This is my ultimate “okay, I’m going to grab a quick bite and then go to the gym” (except I end up not going to the gym) spot. The shop is small and a bit cramped with bar seating, which is great for me because I love small spaces and sitting next to strangers—in short, this is the public bus of sushi restaurants. You will struggle to decide if it is morally just to place your bag on the seat beside you because space feels so limited, and that’s about as much drama I can handle in my life right now. Anyway, I love their salmon nigiri 「鮭魚握壽司」, and I believe it is the best thing on the menu (alongside their miso soup 「味增湯」, which comes complementary with their don bowls 「丼」). I know if I want to eat and then (not) go to the gym, I just need to order 4 pieces of salmon nigiri because that would fill me up just enough and it is my favorite item, but I always end up trying something different every time. Here are photos of their salmon sashimi bowl and miso soup. Not pictured: salmon nigiri. I may or may not be on my way to the...
Read moreWe are traveling in Taipei and came across this place, decided to give it a try because of the high ratings. However, our experience here was TERRIBLE and I felt scammed after learning that these high ratings are incentivized.
In terms of food, the sushi and sashimi are not very fresh but it was somewhat expected with the low price. The counter was sticky and we were seated in front of an old sashimi display case that was all rustic and foggy, which was not appetizing at all.
But the worst part was the attitude of the staff. They hovered over us and gave unsolicited comments on how we are eating our food. One staff told us with sarcastic tone that we shouldn’t share our sushi and that we should “learn more about Japanese food culture before eating their food.”
Come to this place if you are looking for below average food, unclean environment, disrespectful staff and...
Read moreSummary: Solid food but best as a take out place. Perhaps the stars set too high expectations for us. I think for take out, it would have been a sold 4 stars.
When others said this is small and cozy, i will make it clear for the future readers. There are only 8 counter seats!!!!!! If you are not the opening first round, just settle for take out.
We were lucky to have 4 seats but overall experience was ‘a lot of effort’. Extra effort in understanding how to order off their code, effort in getting comfortable in the narrow seats (note! I m 5’and my knees were hitting the counter). effort in asking for water, effort in chasing my kid’s order that came slower...
