Food is great. But the service is confusingly inhospitable.
There’s a space to return your dishes, and if you don’t see it, the workers will chase you down (I had already stepped outside of the coffee shop) and make you return your own dishes instead of just politely moving a couple of glasses themselves.
Given that the meal is 400NT per dish, it’s strange to find worse service here than you would get at any street-side eatery in Taiwan (where they always clear the dishes and wipe the tables after).
The online menu is also only in Chinese and Google Translate doesn’t work very well on it. I ordered the “Thai Throwing Pig Omr” and just hoped it was the one I wanted. There’s one menu at the counter with English but you can’t order at the counter. Another couple asked the workers about translating the menu and got very little help, which is odd given that this place is in the heart of a tourist area.
Perhaps the workers are overworked or undertrained, but you’ll likely be disappointed with the service here and generally feel unwelcome.
As for the food, the Thai Omelette is excellent—like super good. The German sausage one we didn’t like that much. The pancakes are also great, though they are quite expensive. The coffee is good and not too sweet, but it does have a tendency to come out lukewarm.
Brunch spot with great potential given the food quality, if they’ll address...
Read moreThe experience was horrible. Coffee and food are great but definitely not good enough to justify the poor attitude of the staff. We went as a party of 5 and I was told to wait for a table and later on found out 2nd floor was not opened because the store manager said they were short staff (they don’t even serve food to the table, customers have to pick up by themselves). I can still accept that but I found out on the first floor, 2 ladies have occupied a table for 4 people and the guy just kept telling me they wouldn’t limit the dining time of other customers. That’s fine too. And finally a table for 3 and 2 are opened. The store manager asked us to be seated separately and I asked if we can move 2 chairs over so we can all sit together. The guy refused once again saying it would block the exit when the table is 2 meters away from the exit. This experience is so frustrating because the staff clearly shows no enthusiasm at providing good customer service, using all kinds of excuses to turn down customers requests. So I ended up sitting separately with my parties. I will go to other come true but...
Read moreA cozy and stylish cafe in a quiet alley of Ximending, offering a calm retreat from the busy streets with warm lighting and tasteful interior greenery.
The shrimp pasta was vibrant and beautifully presented. The shrimp were plump, fresh, and delicately cooked, topped with a slice of lime that added a refreshing citrus twist. The creamy sauce clung nicely to the linguine, offering a balanced flavor with hints of herbs and garlic.
The coffee had a clean, straightforward character such as smooth body and a gentle roast bitterness. Served in a simple, elegant white cup, it was perfect for slowly sipping and enjoying the cafe’s peaceful atmosphere. A well-executed brew that complemented both savory and sweet pairings.
The soufflé pancake was visually stunning. Topped with a torched caramelized layer and garnished with mint, it was fluffy, custard-like. The rich yellow custard sauce was silky and fragrant, and the sides added both texture and flavor contrast. A delightful and unique dessert that paired well with...
