fly cafe — Restaurant in Taipei

While it has been a while since I went to the original location, I felt a bit so-so about this visit today. I arrived with my friends at 10:30am to begin lining up, and by opening time (11am) there was a very significant line outside. The staff is courteous and well trained to handle the queue and all the orders. Also take note that there are rules: 1 cinnamon roll max per person, and they cannot be ordered to-go. And they will not seat your group until everyone has arrived~

We ordered quite a lot, that being 4 drinks (iced Americano, hot Americano, iced earl Grey tea, early gray iced milk tea) which were all solid and a lot of food: tuna sandwiches, vegetables quiches, matcha red bean cake, burnt basque cheesecake, tiramisu, and two cinnamon rolls. While all the cakes were fairly good I would only consider reordering the matcha red bean cake, although the matcha flavor was a bit lighter than I'd prefer. The cinnamon rolls were unfortunately dry on the inside and very small (easily smaller than the palm of your hand) although I enjoyed the caramelized walnuts, and they are lighter on cinnamon and heavier on the brown sugar flavor in more of a Taiwanese flavor preference style. The best thing and only thing I would consistently reorder was the tuna sandwich- love the hearty filling, balance of flavors, and the cornmeal bun bread! However not sure if this version has peanut butter like the original Fly's Kitchen has, which is my true love of a tuna sandwich. If it did I don't think I particularly tasted it.

If I could come early morning by myself I'd definitely just order a Sicily iced coffee and a tuna sandwich, and...

風雨交加的星期五早上，約 10.50 到店外，前面已有兩組客人。實際到開店時加上自己共有六組客人。店非常小，一樓是廚房+不確定會不會給內用的人坐的一排長排座椅，二樓全是座位區。雖然很明亮，但大團體（兩人以上，有兩張兩人桌併著）可以坐的位子只有兩個，那兩個大概可以坐四人，其他都是一張桌子配兩張椅子，況且桌子也很小，約 60*30cm，承裝不下太多東西，若是多人來要考慮分開坐。整間店的坐位應該不超過 20 個人。

今日用餐：西西里咖啡（熱，固定容量，130元）、肉桂捲（90元）、鮪魚三明治（150元）。因為一次進來很多人，點餐和送餐都需要耐心等候，上了二樓後的水和餐具自助。西西里咖啡有檸檬的新鮮酸味，但不管是檸檬或是咖啡都不苦，入口很順，很高興第一次嘗試就有好結果。鮪魚三明治雖然是寫三明治，但上來的是漢堡wwww...
