Yamahan (Yamamoto Patty) — Restaurant in Taipei

TLDR: Great food, mediocre service. Family Restaurant Vibes Would return!

Food: 5 Stars Ordered: Classic Double - Beef Hamburger Steak (mixed) with Chicken Combo with Tofu Salad, Chocolate Brownie Topped with Ice Cream

Service: Mediocre. The staff were cold and not very welcoming.

Atmosphere: Weird almost tuscan/european decor. Definitely a family restaurant vibe like a Japanese Denny's.

Review: Situated in a small store front in an alley near SYS Memorial, this small specialty shop is consistently full. The staff do not recommend and in fact almost discourage non-resverations. Perhaps that was why I felt the service was cold and mediocre. I arrived and was lucky to run into a cancellation. I was given a quick introduction to the meal and then they proceeded to leave me alone until i could flag a wait staff to order.

I ordered the classic double, hamburger and chicken with a set. First came the tofu salad, which was a delightfully weird. The tofu almost tasted like steamed eggs, it was creamy and delicious and worked great with the vinegrette dressing. Other than that, the salad wasn't much to write home about.

After what seemed like forever, my main came. The hamburger was well cooked and juicy. The meat was almost flaky! The chicken was sou vided and also rather juicy. Everything worked great with the gravy. The pan grilled (fried?) vegetables were just here. The meats and gravy made for a spectacular combo with the fluffy white rice that was provide. I ended up ordering a second bowl.

Devouring the main, I was almost too full for dessert, but I powere through anyway. Like the main, it took a while before the brownie and ice cream came in. Unfortunately, there's not much to say about this, it was good and passable. The brownie was like any other "brownie" you'd find in Taiwan, but with the Ice Cream and chocolate sauce drizzling made edible.

Would I return? Yes. I just ordered this on UBER EATS...

Dining environment is not as well as I thought before I went in. The air conditioner was broken, the temper is too hot to tolerate. The meal is quite big for female (at least me and my friend can’t finish it). The taste is okay, not really impressed, and not too much special. I would say this restaurant is okay if you really wan Japanese style burgers, if not, you can just go any of Japanese set food chain stores, you can still find a nice jp style burger or go to mos...

Visited on 20/12 evening. Staff’s attitude was as cold as the rice. Hamburger steak was dry and katai - entirely over cooked. Staff showed no patience nor responsibility, when mentioning discount in terms of JCB, almost nobody know, then why enlisted on webpage?

Visited here several times in 2020, but quality lowered greatly in this year. Already reported the issues to Japan...
