Awesome Burger — Restaurant in Xinyi District

It's been at least 2 years since I've had a good burger. Were in Taipei for the weekend and this place looked easy to get to from City Hall MRT so we headed that way on a Sunday evening. Though it's a small place, it was nearly empty around 4:30 and we were seated immediately.

We ordered the Peanut Butter Bacon burger and the Blue Cheese and Caramelized Onion burger. Though both were tasty, we both agreed it was peanut butter and bacon for the win. The burger was pretty moist and juicy with a good fat-meat ratio. Where we might have liked a bit more flavor, the rice, sweet peanut butter took it away. Though we are big fans of blue cheese, the piquancy of the blue cheese domineered, leaving it a little imbalanced and "one note." Fries were flavorful and crispy. To me, a ketchup fiend, a good fry is still enjoyable without ketchup. The burgers came with friends and were about $220NT each.

As a minor criticism, they were unable to make us a milkshake at the time of our visit and I felt oddly observed by the waitstaff while I was there. Perhaps just attentive, or perhaps seeking some kind of approval, but it was a little... invasive. But for it's convenience, tastiness, and affordability relative to satisfaction, we will most definitely be back to Awesome Burger and will recommend...

We found this spot as burger lovers, drawn by its great ratings. The cafe is small and busy, so reservations are a good idea. The interior is simple but has a slight diner charm.

FOOD:

The menu features burgers and sides, with unique options like peanut butter or pineapple. We chose the peanut butter burger and the barbecue bacon burger. Fries come free with each burger. The buns were soft, toasted to a crisp with a buttery aroma, paired with a thick, flavorful patty bursting with grilled beef taste, fresh crunchy veggies, and crispy bacon. We preferred the peanut butter burger—generously portioned, it felt odd at first but grew on us, the slightly salty peanut butter adding unique flavor and juiciness, especially with the bacon. The barbecue sauce, however, felt like generic sweet-and-vinegary Heinz and disappointed. The fries were perfectly crisp.

SERVICE:

The staff was super friendly and efficient, helped with our choices, and the food came out fast.

Having visited over 10 burger spots in Taipei, Awesome Burger wins for price-quality value. For 250 TWD at lunch, you get a delicious, juicy burger, fries, and a drink—generous and high-quality. Skip the barbecue sauce; the peanut butter burger is top-tier!...

This is truly a joint that serves one AWESOME burger! I have going from burger joint to burger joint in Taipei for the past year and a half - and after a few fails, and a lot of so so burgers, I come here. The flavor of the beef is amazing and special, and the proportions are perfect ... not too much lettuce and such, and the bread isn't huge like other places.

After a year and a half, I finally found my burger place. You will not be disappointed. I got a simple bacon and cheeseburger - a classic - so I could really taste the special, probably secret items he mixed into the beef.

Especially if you're a foreigner, and have been hunting for a delicious juicy burger - this place is a must go.

I told the cook or Laoban it was the best, most delicious burger I have had in all of Taiwan for three years. He said no no, but I truly hope he knows I really meant it.

Point is - go to Awesome Burger and have the best, handmade burger you've ever had for a reasonable price. I promise you won't be disappointed ... you'll be telling...
