Golden Garden Hotel — Hotel in Taipei

This hotel is a complete joke!!! It has been remodeled, so presently the rooms are somewhat descent, but that’s the extend of the positive side of things. Every material used for the remodel is cheap and flimsy: carpets, bed sheets, shower head - the bathroom door is made of pure cheap plastic!!!

The breakfast is is purely symbolic. It’s so poor, it’s depressing - there aren’t any eggs!! The bread is low quality - very plasticky. And to top it off there are no vegetarian options. To make matters even worse, it starts very late. 7:30 am is too late for early risers, people going to the airport or business travelers.

Furthermore, there are mosquitos in the hallways and elevators. They bite often.

The room is somewhat large, but that benefit is completely annihilated by the poor water pressure in the shower and the fact that it takes more than 10 minutes to get hot water - if you like cold showers you will be fine.

The service is relatively ok. Nothing extraordinary.

The location is centric, but not close enough to the MTR if you carry big luggage Buses and metro are two 2.5 blocks away.

The rooms are not comfortable they feel spartan and bare. However, they are clean.

This hotel is too expensive for the quality it offers and the organization of it is quite poor having very short breakfast hours and a very early checkout time which is completely inconvenient- I DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel at all. Stay...

Front staff was extremely rude and clueless. Requested for a double bed instead of 2 single beds, she argued no one had complained about the beds and that we are the only ones complaining. She kept saying that there was no other rooms. ||Not only the staff was rude, when we went up to the room, the fridge was not cleared. There were leftovers in the fridge. Immediately, we called the counter to clean up and requested for a change of room again. This time they allow us to move into a room they previously “don’t have”. ||Moreover, we left the hotel at about 2pm and told the from staff remember to clean our room. When we came back at about 7pm. The room was not cleaned. ||Additionally, the room reeks the smell of cigarette even the toilet towels. There were stains on the blanket or pillow as well. ||Overall, this hotel is really terrible. Despite being in a good location and relatively affordable, the terrible and unbelievable service and attitude are definitely not worth your money. Stayed here a couple of times and have always found the hotel clean and comfortable. First time I stayed in the double room which is really small, with no external window. Second time I took the triple room which was much better size wise with a king sized bed and not a double. Windows in the triple look to the outside of the hotel facing the main road which was good. Breakfast is a simple affair with Chinese & Western fare, should you find it not to your liking there is a Starbucks nearby. There is a fine eatery to the right of the hotel that serves decent & cheap local food and cold beer; its open till quite late at night. Shopping can be done at the Mall next door, and in my opinion one of Taipei's best night markets is within easy walking distance just up the road.
