東輝韓食館 — Restaurant in Zhongshan District

I'm not here to share whether the food is good or not. There are plenty of other reviews saying the food is fine, and it is! However, their service is NOT fine! We registered for a table at 6:30pm, and we got our table way past 8pm. Am I simply a grumpy customer who is writing a negative review because I had to wait a little? Absolutely Not! When we registered at 6:30, we were told a table should be available at 7:30, and even if it's not, it will be no later than 8pm. They have a rule that states 90 mins per table, so I was guessing that 8pm would be when the previous table's 90mins are up. We went to look around and by the time we got back to the restaurant, it was 7:30ish, we went to check if they had a table. Nope... that's cool... worst case... wait till 8, right? Wrong! At 8:10ish, I went to ask how much longer we have to wait, and it was the way they replied that pushed me to write this review. Their staff said that I was next in line, and when the table will be ready is out of her control. Needless to say my problem was with the way she said 7:30/8:00. In the end, we got our table a little before 8:30, but the point is if we knew we'd be getting our table in almost 2 hours time, I highly doubt that we would...

Garbage service:

Went there after 5, told they'd have a table ready after 7.

7:30 still waiting. Told another 20 minutes. Surprise, surprise, 20 mins has gone and still no table

Update: The nicest thing I can say about the food is it's mid. The pork rib soup was tender and easily the best part of the meal. The rest was meh with a special place in hell for the "steak" which was chewy and borderline inedible. Also they don't even provide Gochujang which tells you how authentic this place actually is.

Finally, the restaurant itself is dingy...

It's my favorite Korea Restaurant. Not only the price is reasonable but also it is in convenient location and can be easily accessible by public transport. There were many different and delectable Korean food I could choose, and the tasty was as similar as local food. I love them so much, especially the Pork bone & potato soup. The hot and spicy soup tasted so scrumptious that I couldn't stop eating, and the fried rice was amazing as well! I look forward to going again and will invite my Korean friends to go...
