I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area of California. I visit Taiwan, specifically this neighborhood, where my wife's family has lived for decades, about once a year, and The Cuckoo's Nest is easily my favorite cafe in the WORLD.
Cats work here, and their job is to hang out with humans. Rave music (or house music -- I don't know which because I'm 71!) plays at the perfect volume (you can groove to it or get to work on your laptop) through a good sound system, and I was able to do some serious writing here! I could have said something but to be honest I shouldn't be correcting elementary level addition. I don't know if it was an honest mistake or on purpose but given what happened I just assume they don't like foreigners.
The coffee was...
