This is the best authentic Argentinian Restaurant in ZhongShan District! I can watch the Argentinian Line Chefs preparing, dressing, and roasting the beef, pork, chick, and sausages through the glass wall adjacent to the indoor Air Conditioned Dining Room. Their portions are large and plentiful, therefore you should order conservatively because it doesn't appear too much upon ordering, but you'll have to struggle to finish the four person grilled beef, pork, chicken, and sausage hot platter after delivery onto your table. In addition, I took the waitress's advice to order the Empanadas bevy with beef, pork, chicken, and three cheeses stuffing. Their service was outstanding because I was a walk-in without a reservation, but their dining room was booked full for the night. I requested the host take my info and put me on a wait list for two people. He informed me their outdoor dining was wide open for us, but their indoor wasn't available, and he couldn't guarantee we would have a table the entire night. I requested he phone me ASAP if a table opened up due to a cancellation or their guests leaving early. The host phoned me half an hour later, and we rushed back to their indoor dining room. The host had graciously carved out a small table for two between two tables meant for four people. That is the quality of service you can expect at Gaucho from the host, to the wait staff, to the cashier, and even the Line Chefs. This is definitely a great Argentinian Restaurant in ZhongShan District, and I've already put it on my Elite Restaurants List in Google Maps. I will definitely return again, but next time I'll reserve far in advance to my arrival. Finally, their red wine pairs excellently with their beef filets, pork short ribs, or tenderly grilled chicken legs, and spicy...
Read moreFirst and last time eating at this restaurant. Ordered 3 things...the fried platter, steak and pasta. All came out within minutes of each other. Their customers must all like shoving their food down and getting the heck out of there. The first item to arrive was the fried platter. After I had one bite, the steak came out. I asked the waitress to not serve the pasta for 30 minutes but she came back a minute later to tell me it's already done. I mean, Jesus Christ, give us a chance to eat this stuff before serving the next item. Who the hell likes a table full of food that's getting cold because we can't shove it down fast enough. I asked to see the manager and he was clueless. He said this is how their restaurant serves their food. They obviously like their customers to shove it down fast and get the hell out of there.
As for the food, nothing to write home about. The fried platter and steak are as average as it gets. I didn't even bother trying the pasta because it was...
Read moreThis place brings me so many memories of my childhood growing up in Argentina. From the typical Argentinian restaurant decor, to the parrilla and the asador working on the orders to the food! The chorizo is the most authentic Argentinian chorizo I had since I left Argentina. I thought Mercado Buenos Aires in L.A. was the best, but now it’s Gaucho Taipei. We also ordered chicken empanadas for appetizers and it’s like nothing you can get anywhere in Taiwan. It tastes like a corner bakery in Buenos Aires. The asado de tira (Short ribs) was done perfectly, juicy but with a touch of char on the outside. The entraña (Shirt steak) came at the end and I thought for sure I was too full to handle it. It was so good we ended up finishing it as well. Tender, flavorful and with a smokiness of the charcoal, it was a perfect ending to a wonderful meal. Unlike other steakhouses I’ve been in Taiwan, the portions are really big too. Can’t wait...
