There's a lot to like about this restaurant, but honestly I'd look elsewhere for a better overall experience.
First, the good; The wagyu filet mignon was outstanding and I'd highly recommend ordering this dish with a nice glass of red. We also ordered a seafood dish that a bit of everything and the scallops, lobster and shrimp were great! There were a few servers helping us throughout the night, but the sommelier was far and away the best server we had. Very personable, great English and good wine recommendations. And because we were there celebrating my wife's bday, they gave us a free bday dessert complete with candle and bday song.
The not so good; There was no one to welcome us when we entered the restaurant, so we just kind of waited near the front desk. It wasn't very long, but to the point where it got a bit awkward for my wife and I. When I used the bathroom I noticed a rather large private table in the back, so I'm guessing they ordered shortly before us because our meal took a while, I totally get that and I don't mind waiting for a nice meal. The least I'd expect is to keep an eye on my water & wine, but we both had empty water glasses for a while. As I mentioned before, most of the seafood was great, but the crab was so disappointing that it overshadowed everything. Apparently the kitchen had cut the meat and shell all the way through (if that makes sense), instead of just cutting the shell on both sides leaving the meat whole inside, then cooked. The meat stuck to the shell to the point where we couldn't even pull it out with our fingers to eat, Sad....Then, while finishing up our desserts, of which my wife's was free! I was presented with the bill while still not finished with my dessert, actually mid-bite.
My two cents from a self-proclaimed foodie, but by no means an expert! I know all of this is nit-picking and first world problems, but I wanted to share our experience because we've had much better overall experiences at other restaurants for less money.
If it's possible to get the wagyu filet mignon for takeout, do it! It's phenomenal! And ask for the sommelier to be your server, otherwise the restaurant experience isn't worth it...
Read moreFrom the moment we secured our reservation, Chef Massimo, Chef Otti, and the entire team at GMT enveloped us in an experience marked by meticulous care and culinary excellence. Each dish was a testament to their dedication. The duck sugo, paired with freshly made house pasta, was a revelation in texture and flavor—so compelling, in fact, that I found myself ordering five more portions just to savor the experience a bit longer.
The risotto, prepared with an authenticity that transported us straight to Italy, was nothing short of masterful. Every hot dish was executed with precision, but the roast beef and porchetta, sliced to perfection and infused with just the right amount of fennel, rosemary, and garlic, truly took me back to Tuscany. The flavors were a harmonious blend of tradition and skill.
The hot appetizers were nothing short of extraordinary. The braised beef cheeks, in particular, could have easily been an entrée in their own right, so tender were they that the meat practically melted in my mouth. The depth of flavor from the red wine braising, with its notes of onions, carrots, and celery, was simply wow-worthy. The roasted mushrooms, prosciutto, and melon rounded out the selection, each dish a delightful precursor to the main event.
My halibut, bathed in an emulsion of garlic-infused olive oil and its own savory juices, was a delicate and flavorful marvel. The lobster, too, was a standout, with its tender, succulent meat.
Desserts at GMT were no mere afterthought; the Oreo cake, in particular, was a delightful end to the meal, rich and satisfying. Throughout the evening, the chefs' meticulous attention to detail was evident in every bite, each dish lovingly crafted to perfection. We dined like royalty, immersed in a culinary experience that was as much about the passion behind the preparation as it was about the flavors on the plate.
This place is a hidden gem, one I almost hesitate to share for fear it might be discovered by those who fail to appreciate true Italian...
Read moreA posh place with generally good service. Portion of food is very generous and fresh. However, we ordered seafood spaghetti and the big mussel was not cooked, more like it on the raw side. We informed the captain, the bigger build one of the 2, and he quite flat facedly said I will show it to the chef. And then he returned and said they will cook a mussel to replace. By that time, we were done pasta and ready for the main. Then he return a a small rather sad looking at it was just a small mussel on a side plate and presented it to us. I guess not very appropriate presentation for a restaurant of this level. We were rather dumbfounded. Then the main came. We order iberico pork but weren't pleased with it. There were 4 or 5 pieces but only the 2 center pieces are good. The rest as they were on the outside were dry and hard.. maybe we didn't make a good choice. We were slow with the entree as it wasn't so enticing. The vegetables were still on the plate and this same captain came and wanted to clear the table. I had to stop him. Guess he makes a super efficient waiter. The rest of the juniors were great. They had service way much better than this gentleman. Will still go back and hopefully we make...
