As a Cantonese person coming from Hong Kong trying this Cantonese restaurant, this place is an insult to my home food and I have no clue how this can be a one star Michelin restaurant. The overall quality is at best a subpar茶餐廳 (HK style cafe) quality. My friend pre-ordered a pork knuckle when he made the reservation and this dish is literally a German pork knuckles with yam french fries and preserved Chinese vegetables (you can think of it as a of sauerkraut substitute). Am I really dining in an authentic Cantonese restaurant? How about the taste...the skin is not crispy, the meat is dry and has absolutely no flavor. Then how about other more traditional canto food? The 白斬雞 is flavorless and not fully cooked to the bone, it doesn‘t come with any scallion ginger oil as the dipping sauce (how can they not know this?) The 鹹魚雞豆腐煲 is average which lacks the salted fish flavor and should have more sauce. If you want to have cantonese food, mind as well just go to a better 茶餐廳 in Taipei, they are not super authentic either, but at least they should taste better than...
Read moreThere is always a good reason for a restaurant to be around for many decades withstanding trend changes and adverse economy times. So, round up your foodie friends and you'll find out why has this restaurant been around for so many years. Although it's an old restaurant with traditional Chinese decors and they are serious about their food and service but they show their humorous side too. Last course , a dessert, we had was sweet pastry made like some Mahjong game tiles- 紅中, 發財,白板, which is how their restaurant...
Read moreWe tried this place around 8pm on Sunday night and it was empty. The place is glamorously decorated and the services were courteous eventhough we had no reservation. We came in because of the Michelin star that was claimed for Cantonese food. As we came in later just before closing, we ordered fairly quickly. Food came but the quality was not at par to Michelin standard. The seasonal crab was not fresh nor was it delectable to the sight. It seemed that the crab was not fresh and totally malnourished. The other food was nearly tasteless but the tea they served was ok.. the whole experience was not worthy of a Michelin star nor any Standard, just a fancy restaurant. The price were exorbitant without merit. Just a fancy decorated restaurant. It was an...
