Now, let's talk about the food. We opted for the menu for four people, and it was priced reasonably at around 2500 NTD. The first thing that struck me was the portion size. The dishes that arrived at our table were not only visually appealing but also incredibly generous. It's evident that the restaurant takes pride in ensuring that diners leave with satisfied appetites.
The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the authentic Thai flavors that each dish delivered. From the spicy curries to the savory stir-fried dishes, every bite was a burst of flavors that awakened my taste buds. The spiciness was just right, offering a pleasant kick without overwhelming the palate. Each dish was carefully prepared, using quality ingredients that added depth and authenticity to the cuisine.
One notable aspect that stood out during our dining experience was the excellent customer service. The staff at 瓦城EXPRESS were attentive and accommodating. They were happy to provide recommendations, answer any questions about the menu, and ensure that we had everything we needed to enjoy our meal. Moreover, the free water refills were a thoughtful touch, ensuring that we stayed hydrated throughout the meal.

The lighting was just right, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that was perfect for both casual and intimate gatherings.
Furthermore, 瓦城EXPRESS's commitment to authenticity was evident not only in its flavors but also in its presentation. Each dish was artfully arranged, demonstrating a dedication to aesthetics that elevated the overall dining experience. Read moreHey everyone. Let's start with the good: the lemon tea was freshly made and not too sweet, which is a miracle in Taiwan, so I gave an extra star.
Now let's talk about the food. First, we tried to order the pad thai without bean sprouts. When we asked if that was possible, the server said no, because pad thai is supposed to be made with bean sprouts. As he was saying this, I remembered watching his face light up like giving us bad news was the one thing that gave him joy that day. What a great smile. Needless to say, we decided to order something else.
I ordered the spicy ground beef. The dish tasted a bit off.. like they used green onion and spinach instead of thai basil. If it was thai basil, not sure how they pulled off tasteless basil. Also, surprise surprise, it was too sweet. Thai cooking is a balace of many flavors, it should not be heavy on sweetness. As always, i picture the chef in the kitchen cooking the dish, plating the food, tasting it, thinking to himself "wow this dish tastes great!", then proceeding to dump an extra cup of sugar into the dish and sending it out. Like seriously. Why???? And the best for last.. as you can see from the picture, the beef was very wet! LOL! Thats when i realized Ive never been so hungry and sad at the same time.. this was really a first for me. Overall, I was basically served a sweetened beef bolognase without pasta in it.
But hey, I'm a nice guy, so I'd like to give a few pro tips. To get rid of the liquid, the beef needs to be singed. If the fat content is relatively high, once the beef turns brown, it will start to lose a lot of water and fat. If its not dehydrated before adding other ingredients, lots of liquid will accumulate. If you singe the beef and get rid of the water, youll have a thai style dish that also has a nice texture to it. By leaving the water in, the flavors from the different ingredients are all melded into the liquid and its really unpleasant. Also, please stop using so much sugar in savory dishes. If i want dessert, ill order ice cream or boba or anything else, i dont want dessert in my dinner.
Would i come here again? Probably not. I just criticized the food in a thai restaurant and ive never even been to thailand, which is pretty hilarious. But if you do choose to come here anyway, be sure to pack some insulin for after you eat their ground beef dish.. i wouldnt want anyone to pass out at the restaurant after their dinner.
Thanks, and big shout out to my aunt aka "big lady gu gu" for being an everyday...
Read moreThai-style Fried Rice Noodles ($280): A saucer of sugar is served and the noodles contains irremovable sprouts and some peanuts but no garlics and onions are added inside. It has a tangy and savoury flavour and the noodles are of greatest texture. The deliciousness and the impeccable taste still remain the same after years.
Thai Green Milk Tea (Iced/Hot) ($130): A tiny jar of syrup is served with the tea to be added into and stirred up with the tea. After that, it does taste better and more authentic and I finally know the reason why Thai milk tea is sweeter than typical ones.
This Thai chain restaurant is situated on the second floor of Taipei Main Station on the corner.
To top it off, last time dining at one of Thai Towns was about years ago with my parents. The service attitude, the food quality and its authenticity have been maintained well and don’t disappoint through the years. The prices are mid-range and reasonable for its portion sizes. Besides, the air conditioning is also quite strong and satisfying at such hot and humid weather outside. Overall, it’s a 9.5 out of 10!
FYI, you scan to order and there’s an additional 10% service charge...
