Yixian Park is located near Taipei Main Station in Taipei, Taiwan, also known as the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. The park is a small park commemorating Sun Yat-sen. The Republic of China chose this place as one of the parks to commemorate the founding father of the country, mainly because it was the pavilion where Sun Yat-sen stayed when he came to Taiwan in 1913.
This pavilion was also the place where Taiwan's Governor Sakuma Zuo Matthew and Sun Yat-sen had a political discussion. The current address is No. 46, Section 1, Zhongshan North Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei City, with Civic Avenue Section in the north, Zhongshan North Road Section in the east, and Taipei Main Station in the west.
Yatsen Park covers an area of about 3,025 square meters. The main building in the park is the "Ume Yashiki" of about 50 square meters. Umeyashiki, named after the "plum tree" planted in the garden, was built in 1900. It was originally a pavilion operated by the Japanese Yamato Sokichi. Umeyashiki is a famous high-end food pavilion in Taipei during the Japanese Occupation era. It is located in Beimending. Every Taiwanese governor, business tycoon or social celebrity are all guests. Geishas can also be invited to cheer during the banquet. Yixian...
Read moreAccessibility to the House is not updated - it's been closed since COVID-19, so visitors can only look from the outside and walk around the garden. The garden is more of a worthy visit than the House, tbh. The House is very small and the exhibits seem limited (unless it's your 1st encounter about Sun Yat-Sen). The House also doesn't seem to be well-maintained - it seemed dusty and cobwebby. Worthy only if you're a history buff or...
Read moreA rather simplified memorial park in memory of the temporary residence where Dr. Sun had visited in Taipei during his early years dedicated to the revolution against the Ching dynasty. Suggest to set up a 15 to 30 minutes video about the pre-republic lifes of Dr. Sun, and have it run on display every hour on the hour during the entire opening hours of the park. It would be more attractive for the public than just...
