A Nightmare Dining Experience at Flame Tree Cottages Resort made our stay very short! Avoid this place! Beware of reviews older than 6 months - ownership and management change since! Our stay at Flame Tree Cottages Resort was an absolute disaster, with the dining experience being the most appalling aspect. The so-called restaurant served food that was simply inedible. The salad was a tasteless, bland mess, and the grilled chicken was barely cooked, if at all. It was clear that the kitchen staff had no idea what they were doing. The service was equally atrocious. The waitstaff seemed completely oblivious to the needs of their guests. We had to repeatedly ask for basic amenities like napkins, salt, and pepper, which is unacceptable at any establishment. I cannot emphasize enough how disgusting and unsanitary the food was. It's a shame that such a beautiful location is being ruined by incompetent management and staff. I would strongly advise anyone considering staying here to look elsewhere for a more enjoyable and hygienic experience.

Our complaints were met with a helpless response from an overwhelmed staff member who blamed the kitchen for the substandard food. This unprofessional behavior is a clear violation of the golden rule of hospitality: never argue or blame colleagues n front of a guest. This restaurant has by far the best location in Nungwi. You are practically eating on the beach whilst it still being private. The chairs are very comfortable and the setting is very intimate.

The staff is lovely and you can have your food delivered to wherever you want to eat it they are very flexible ie. pool, room or your terrace.

The first problem is that the food is not great. I had pasta and the sauce was watery, some of the dishes come with vegetables which were undercooked and cold, the deserts of fruit with honey drizzled on top are too overpriced, I had fish that came raw in the middle once. I think the kitchen has a problem with their timing as often part of the dish will be cold. Drinks are good but a bit overpriced compared to other places.

The second problem is the service. Whilst the staff is very kind and lovely it can take over an hour to get a meal. When we sent back the raw fish it took 20 mins to come back by that time everyone had finished their meal. Drinks make 20 minutes to make. We were sometimes one of only two tables at the restaurant and it was still so slow.

Nice location, atmosphere and very friendly waiter…but after one hour waiting, we got informed fish was over and the cook couldn’t make entirely our order. We kept just part of it, but…we got the wrong meal… at the end, we stayed almost two hours just for couple of soft drinks and a small starter, that came after one hour and a half.
