This rating is solely based on the Thai food I received and how it fares against it's competition. I would rate the staff and service 5* .
It's the Second time I've been here over the years and firstly the service was impeccable. The staff are so polite and welcoming, I feel this is instilled from the owner and his wife Christmas, a really friendly couple.
The food is catered highly towards tourists which isn't a problem, but we found dishes were aimed towards fairly inexperienced Thai food eaters, the panang, massaman, green curry all overloaded with peanuts not only on top of the dish but it was peanut overload, they just don't belong on everything.
The pad kaprow (holy basil) was fairly tame in terms of pungency and not a memorable one. The spice levels they offer are again catering heavily towards non spice eaters, so if you do enjoy spice make sure you tell them that.
Panang was severely lacking in kaffir lime leaves and came out very watery unfortunately Which indicated it'd been drowned in coconut milk and yet again, half a bag of peanuts in the bottom of the bowl. The staff make this restaurant great, in my opinion the food needs to focused more authentically as some key flavours were lacking in kaprao + panang especially.
Pad-seeuew was lacking that classic smoky flavour.
Overall it felt like the food was rushed, I'd have waited an extra ten minutes if that extra bit of love was put into each dish.
Unfortunately this is the first restaurant I've ever visited in Thailand for years that give you such a small portion of rice. Very well presented in love heart shapes but considering how cheap rice is, we felt it was cutting corners unnecessarily.
A little steep on the pricing in my eyes, 100-130 baht most dishes which is higher than the local average for street food. There are plenty of cheaper more authentic places aimed at tourists locally but it's a nice location and a ok place to start for first timers getting to grips with Thai food for the first time...
Read moreA really delicious meal. I thoroughly recommend this restaurant. We sat by the canal and soaked in the atmosphere. The restaurant was very busy but service was great, attentive and friendly. Prices very reasonable. We were told the food could take 35 minutes as they were busy but appetizer and beer came very quickly and we definitely didn't wait 35 minutes for our main course. We were asked how spicy we wanted the food, and we got what we asked for. Food was piping hot. Beer was very cold. Delicious pad Thai and green curry, some of the best we have had in a month in Thailand. The only thing is the rice portion was quite small, but as it was only 10THB, easy to get another. It was early in the new year and the staff were all dressed up which was fun. Restaurant is closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Open other days from 5-10.30pm. There was anti mosquito spray and cards on the table -...
Read moreVisited here twice. The first time was exceptional hence the second visit, however we were very disappointed. The first time we could see how busy they were and short staffed and thought maybe this was just a one off. We had to wait an hour to be seated and still managed to get our food in a reasonable time and everything tasted great. The second time we came early like 5:40pm and once again they were very busy and short staffed. We ordered chicken wings, papaya salad and massaman curry. The chicken wings and papaya salad came in about 20 mins and were pretty good. The massaman curry took 1 hour 20 mins to come and when it did the potatoes and carrots were nearly inedible they were so hard. It also tasted like a chicken satay and was extremely sweet. Wouldn't recommend.
The restaurant is nice and has good pricing however I feel they are too busy and are struggling...
