Chatuchak market MUST-VISIT

Found Jad Jan when I was looking for somewhere to eat (on Google map) at Chatuchak market.

It's not easy to find this small eatery (scroll to the end for tips) as it's within the market and next to stalls selling clothes and shoes.

Their grilled pork is AWESOME. It's soooo nice. If you love barbequed or grilled meat, you must try this. It's served fast, like within 5 minutes of ordering (there was only 1 other group of customer).

It's nicer than Korea's samgyupsal imho.

Disclaimer: It was my first time having Thai style grilled pork, never knew this yummy dish existed. Hence I might be over-raving it, haha.

Personally, I find their fried chicken and the others alright. Those dishes pale in comparison to the grilled pork dish. We had grilled pork neck again, at a pricier restaurant near Union Mall, but Jad Jan's is still better.

There's picture menus at Jad Jan though not all had the pricing sticker. Normally, customers need to fill in the order form (all Thai words). You can get the waiter's help, just point to the pictures and he'll fill in the form for you.

I get food poisoning and upset stomach easily so I am usually wary of small eateries. After eating at Jad Jan, I was shopping happily at Chatuchak for the entire afternoon. Certified ok for sensitive stomachs!

Thank you Google review! Wouldn't have known about this place if not for the reviews.

p.s: It's easier to find this stall by walking to Chatuchak market from Mochit BTS station. As you're nearing the stall (refer to Google map while walking), you'll see there's a big entrance into Chatuchak market (2nd entrance). Go towards the stalls on the left. p.p.s: Jad Jan is nestled within the usual stalls, there is no obvious signage. Do refer to the photos of the shop posted by the other reviewers, otherwise you...

Wow I feel bad for Jad Jan; so many unqualified people reviewing here, it's disturbing and makes me worry about how many places I missed out in the world because of stupid reviews.

Most reviews here complain about the amount of tourists... that's amazing to me since the weekend market has more than 200,000 visitors a weekend and naturally you're gonna have lots of tourists coming to this place.

This by no means is a tourist trap. I've been coming to Jad Jan since 2013 and I can say with confidence that this is one of the best places in Thailand to get Isan salad and fried chicken.

The food is perfecty balanced and comes with incredible fresh flavors and spice. This is a must go place for anyone who wants to experience Som Tum. I've brought people from all corners of the world here and most agree that this food is world class.

Dispell any other reviews that...

Spotted this eatery via Google map. It’s within the Chatuchak market, wedged between fashion stalls.

Best way to get there is to refer to your google map and the photo of the shops posted by other reviewers.

It doesn’t have anything easily identifiable by tourists. The menu board does have its brand name (Jad-Jan) but you can miss it easily.

Love the grilled pork, it’s a must try!!! It looks unimpressive from the picture on the menu but it’s heavenly (try with the sauce). Best 200+ baht meal I’ve had so far.

The grilled pork and fried chicken arrive almost immediately. The prawn dish too 10-15 mins.

How it work: get a seat. Grab a menu with the price on it. There’s a paper (Thai words only though) for you to pick your orders. Or you can get assistance. Once you’re done with your meal, you can get assistance to...

I recently visited Jad Jan, a busy Thai restaurant that I decided to try. The dishes were delicious, with the corn & salted egg salad and bamboo shoot salad standing out as my favorites. The grilled pork neck was also yummy. However, I found the Tom yum kung too oily and lacking in the characteristic Tom yum flavor. Despite this, I’m happy to come back to Jad Jan when I visit Chatuchak market next time, especially since many other restaurants in the market don’t meet my expectations. The restaurant also has fans and air cooling machines, which help keep you cool. The staff’s ability to communicate in English, Burmese, and Thai adds to the overall positive experience.
