Alchemy Vegan is a quaint little gem that has found its way into my heart. Nestled in a cozy space, the restaurant boasts charming decorations that create a lovely ambiance. While the service was satisfactory, I found the staff to be overly friendly for my taste, but I understand that some might appreciate the warmth.
Now, let's get to the star of the show – the food. Oh my goodness, where do I even begin? Alchemy Vegan has officially earned a spot on my 'Life Changing Vegan Food' list, and for good reason. I sampled both the mushroom quesadillas and the Spanish Salsa quesadillas, and while they were a tad heavy on the salt for my liking, the flavors were undeniably delicious.
But wait, there's more! The churros. Let me tell you, I'm not typically a big fan of churros, but these were a game-changer. They were hands down the best I've ever tasted – crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and perfectly sweet. And don't even get me started on the coconut caramel cheesecake. Rich, decadent, and 100% vegan, it was a slice of heaven on a plate. The cashew cream cheese added just the right amount of tanginess to balance out the sweetness of the caramel.
However, I did notice a couple of minor issues during my visit. Firstly, upon arrival, I found a dirty table, which was a bit off-putting. Additionally, the staff didn't promptly clear away empty plates, which is something I've come to expect in other restaurants.
Overall, despite these minor hiccups, Alchemy Vegan offers a delightful dining experience for vegans and non-vegans alike. With its delectable food offerings and family-friendly atmosphere, it's definitely...
Read moreWe are so glad that we came here. We had the beast wrap which was a beast! It was very filling for me, someone who eats like a horse... and it was delicious, a lovely mix of flavours. We also had the aubergine panini which was an amazing flavour, and the sunflowerseed pesto bruschetta which was also fantastic.
We finished with CHURROS made fresh by the owner Adrian. He arrived at the cafe not long after we ordered our main dishes and suggested that if we wanted churros we should order them soon as they take around 25 minutes to make fresh.
Adrian was a very bubbly, happy guy and we helped him to rate The ambience of some new lighting he was installing.
He gave us some sample churros to help us decide if we wanted sugar, sugar/cinnamon or plain. My partner decided on plain and I decided on sugar/cinnamon. They were so good! The best we had ever tried, my partner is Spanish so she is a hard please! The sauces with them chocolate and also the caramel were also to die for.
I recommend very highly to try wraps, paninis, bruschetta and Of course churros. They also have some amazing sounding cakes but the voice of reason (my partner) convinced me that to eat cakes as well would be gluttony. So we will be back another day to try out some more wraps and the cakes.
The entire bill was less than 400 baht and I was actually full which is rare for me, the bottomless pit!
We also returned for cakes a few days later as they had some very good looking options and they tasted even better than they looked. I cycled through the rain to get them sun was my confidence that they...
Read moreChurro Gato Cafe is definitely a unique place in Chiang Mai. It's the only place I've seen with churros in the city and one of only a handful of cat cafes. Even a cat cafes go, this one is unique. The cats are actually the personal cats of the owner, Adrian. Because of that, he makes sure to give them a break from people by letting them stay at home 3-4 days per week. You're most likely to get some cat time if you visit on the weekend. Also, there's no requirement to buy anything or pay any fee to hang out with his cats. Now, on the food side of the things, the churros are delicious! Adrian shows the same care for his churros as he does his cats, constantly working to perfect his recipe. They are all hand made fresh multiple times per day. That does mean you might have to wait a bit if they're in the middle of making the new batch. The churros come plain, with sugar, or with cinnamon sugar. We got cinnamon sugar, and I'd definitely suggest it. You can also order a dip for your churros. We got the "date night" combo which is 3 churros and a dip for 100 Baht. It's a good size for two to share. We got the dulce de leche dip, which was delicious. Adrian said he makes it by hand in a process that takes multiple hours. My only complaint is that we would have liked a bit...
