It is so amazing being here in a decolonized country. It’s beautiful to be a minority as a fareng in such a wonderful society. So grateful to visit this park and witness the level of community here. I had one of the best afternoons in Thailand for free in this park. The fun” thing is this is pronounced “Walk Hard -for you Comedy enthusiasts who also happen to enjoy Johnny Cash. But I digress… let me continue with the story.
I parked around the corner in front of Madame Lee restaurant (where I later enjoyed one of the best meals & cocktails in Chiang Mai. Separate Review) Before dining, I went for a stroll around the pretty park and its many decorative walking bridges. I happened upon a lively group of Thai people dancing to House music at 6 PM which happens daily. I was warmly welcomed in this Zumba style dance class. After a good sweat, I bought a coconut water & meung kam flavored chips (yum) from the kind vendor at the end of the park -who shares my same Thai name. We bonded while we watched the lively volleyball-like games happening in front of us with full gymnastic flips by the locals. They used a bamboo style ball, but kicked it back-and-forth over the net in teams. I got invited to join one of the teams and then asked to return each day. LOL! Read more💐🌺🌸 This morning, I had the chance to watch the Chiang Mai Flower Festival parade, and it was absolutely beautiful. There were 33 processions, each with amazing floral floats and people dressed in bright and colourful traditional costumes. It was so impressive to see how much effort went into everything.
The Chiang Mai Flower Festival at Buak Hard Public Park is as stunning as ever this year! The park is filled with vibrant floral displays featuring tulips, lilies, hydrangeas, and so many other colourful blooms. Everywhere you look, there’s another perfect spot for taking photos.
I was lucky enough to witness the magnificent parade this morning, with beautifully decorated floats covered in flowers. But the real highlight for me is always the floral displays in the park itself. They’ve done a fantastic job this year, with everything looking so fresh and well-designed.
If you’re in Chiang Mai, tomorrow (9th February) is your last chance to visit and enjoy the festival. It’s always one of my favourite events in the city. Highly recommended!

The 48th Flower Festival in Chiang Mai is a must-see, marking the end of the cold season in the most colorful way! Held from February 7-9, 2025, this festival is one of the three main events in Chiang Mai. 🌺
Try accessing through the bridge in front of Suan Phrung Hospital. You'll pass through a square beautifully decorated with flowers before reaching the main entrance, which features a stunning flower peacock on top.
Festival Highlights Free Entrance: Open daily from 6 AM to 12 AM. Flower Displays: Right after the main entrance, you'll see tulips on the left. Walk straight, and you'll find hydrangeas on the left and a stage on the right. Further along, there are orchids and many other beautiful flowers. 🌷 Activities: Activities on the stage vary, so be sure to check the schedule. Market Stalls: After enjoying the flower exhibition, explore the many stalls selling foods, plants, clothes, and more.
