INDIAN Bites Cafe & Vegetarian and Vegan Restaurant Review 📍Chiang Mai, Thailand
Some of the best travel memories come from unexpected discoveries. While exploring Chiang Mai, I stumbled upon INDIAN Bites Cafe, a cozy vegetarian and vegan Indian spot with a banner outside that reads "Gujarati Authentic Food" — I knew I had to give it a try.
Specializing in Gujarati-style vegetarian cuisine, this place is a haven for plant-based eaters and lovers of flavorful street food.
🥪 Dabeli (Indian Burger) A delicious combination of spiced mashed potatoes and peanuts in a sesame bun, topped with sweet and tangy chutneys. The red and green chutneys on the side brought everything together perfectly.
🍞 Spiced Avocado Toast Don’t underestimate this Indian twist on a classic — mashed avocado with chopped tomatoes, onions, and herbs, served on crispy toast. Fresh, flavorful, and light!
🥣 Pani Puri This iconic Indian street snack did not disappoint — crispy shells stuffed with a potato mix, served with chilled, tangy mint water. One bite, and it bursts with flavor!
🧀 Cheese Bhaji with Roti Rich, creamy, and spicy — this curry topped with cheese was the perfect match for their warm, fresh Roti bread. Comfort food at its best.
🌿 Ambience: Modern and minimal, with large windows looking out onto greenery. Cool air-conditioning and peaceful vibes — a hidden gem in the city.

The big clear glass windows allow for this look into what I can only describe as a spacious living room. Beautifully lit, and modern-comfortly decorated with potted plants, comfy chairs with earthy wooden tables, and even a sofa and coffee table area, it truly feels like being in someone’s big living room. You will have to come here to experience this soothing comfort.
What makes this place even better is the quality of food. I was already impressed from seeing their baked goods and the posters clearly saying their breads are homemade. And it was, indeed, really good. I ordered their egg and bacon croissant and it was delicious. Their sandwiches and burgers on the menu look amazing too! And the prices are incredibly reasonable for the quality, especially with the increasingly more expensive western food cafes in Chiang Mai.
I will definitely return for their other items on the menu. I’m glad I made the stop. If you are reading this and considering, just go check this place out! You won’t regret it!

Read moreI recently visited Indian Bites, and I must say, it was a wonderful experience! I tried the vada pav, samosa, aloo-phee sabji with puri, and egg cheese kotala — and each dish was absolutely delicious. The flavors were spot-on, authentic, and reminded me of home-cooked meals. The vada pav had the perfect blend of spice and crunch, while the samosas were crispy and generously filled. The aloo-phee sabji with puri was comforting and full of flavor — a true taste of India. The egg cheese kotala was a surprise favorite — rich, cheesy, and packed with taste.
Although I couldn’t click pictures, I have to say the owners left a lasting impression. They were extremely warm, kind, and welcoming. It’s always a pleasure to be served by people who genuinely care about your experience, and their hospitality made the meal even more memorable.
The restaurant also has a lovely aesthetic — simple, clean, and cozy, with a vibe that makes you want to sit and enjoy your food slowly. All in all, Indian Bites is a gem for anyone craving authentic Indian street food with a personal touch. I’ll definitely be...
