Terrible place!!!!!!
Came here for a breakfast before my bus to Bangkok.
Saw the monk getting his Alms food and offered to buy the monk a coffee.
The guy the owner starts screaming and shouting at me saying I shouldnāt be asking him if he wants a coffee.
You could see the monk was saying yes too, but the man came running in from the kitchen! The poor guy just wanted a coffee!!
I just did a 21 day Vipassana at chom tong temple living with monks and I learnt that monks are basically not allowed to ask for anything as part of the rules of their daily living.
So as an act of kindness isnāt a bad thing! And I know that youāre allowed to offer and give them foodā¦!!
Anyway customer service was a disaster. From a genuine intention of an act of kindness I was left feeling terrible and like Iād done something wrong!
The guy clearly doesnāt want to be there or like his job! I pride myself on not leaving bad reviews but when you treat people like that and you have that negative energy you make peoples lifeās worse - there just be repercussions for taking out your stress on other people!
I noticed I asked for the chocolate waffles and he was murmuring to himself after I said something. It was a bad mistake to come here, came here feeling tired (very early start) and now leaving feel tired & bad! Thats no way to treat people!
Really not happy. At least it was therapeutic writing this review - feel a lot better now!
Anyway thereās a coffee place down this road called btws coffee or something like that.
Yesterday I read a review saying he was screaming and shouting at people I ignored the review went in and I could see this guys energy was off - should have listened to the review!
So if you come here and have a bad experience - guess what you should have listeined to the review.
I just donāt think itās correct to go round treating people like that. Problem is Iām an English men and Iāve been told to control my emotions but in this case I wish I had just shouted back at him! Terrible experience!!!
If you go here and have a bad experience then guess what you should have listein to the signs! Fact of lifeā¦!!!
In life people are always giving you sign posts what to watch out for and be careful of and itās our choice whether we listein to them but can only blame ourselves if we ignore their advice!
The foods not all that great either!!!
I always leave a tip as well. 10-20% lifeās about giving! But on this occasion Iām sorry no way. Thereās no way I can encourage that kind of behaviour towards others especially in a land has excellent behaviour...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI've been reluctant to write this review because I would hate to see my favourite early morning breakfast spot packed to the rafters and cues for tables. But I'm being selfish; the people who own and run this place deserve to be successful. So here it is: The early bird opens at 6 AM daily. It's situated on a tranquil little street, but at 6 AM, most everything is calm and tranquil. It's an unassuming little place, and when you sit at your table, the first thing you'll notice is how peaceful and quiet the restaurant itself is. The staff are impressive; they float silently, ensuring perfect early-morning etiquette is maintained. There is a beautiful mixture of European and Thai breakfast choices. Everything is made fresh from fresh ingredients, which means it's both healthy and tasty. I can't recommend any particular dish or dishes because I've lived in Chiang Mai for over a year and have eaten here many times and have always been satisfied. The Ć la carte menu is again made from fresh ingredients and cooked while you sip your choice of coffee, freshly squeezed fruit juice, or a cooling fresh fruit smoothie. Again, I have to say I've never been disappointed, whether it be early morning, lunchtime, or early afternoon, although in saying that, the tranquil little street does get slightly busier and a little more interesting as the day progresses. I'm sure you'll enjoy this little hidden gem as...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGenerally speaking, I fast in Thailand until lunch time. But occasionally, when you want something VERY fresh and wonderfully healthy as an alternative to balance out the copious amounts of Khao Soi or beers youāve been smashing down - 626 is your spot. (If youāve been to Chiang Mai, youāll know exactly what Iām saying)
Like me, I frequently become bored with the vast array of Thai food. Itās nice to dabble back into creature comforts every so often. You want Muesli ? fine. You want toast & decent spreads, they got it. You want scrambled eggs n bacon to remind you that a āfat boyā full English is readily available not just in your local caff but also 6400 miles away from Englandā¦.they got it.
The coffee is superb, rich & well pressed. The fruit bowls are cut in front of you. And smoothies are made to order.
And if you want a old fashioned couple churning out dishes with little complaint whether Thai or otherwise (shock, they cook Thai food too?) then come, enjoy yourself and remember that good breakfast CAN exist outside a bowl of Jok.
Iāve had a ābreakfastā 6 times in my 12 days Chiang Mai stop over. 626 was two of them.
As I sit here writing this review, and documenting some of my time here in my journal, let this be the group of words that sends you here to hit your level of nostalgia on the head for a low level amount of...
