After being out all day and not being able to grab something to eat we were starving and seeing reviews of this place we decided to eat here. I ordered the meat lovers pizza which was okay and my partner ordered the white pizza deluxe after reading the vast array of toppings. The pizza honestly had no flavour whatsoever, she gave most of it to me and we left some remaining slices. After speaking to the waitress and explaining, she told us "the pizza isn't meant to taste of anything, it's a white pizza" (meaning theres no sauce) right, okay so why have all the topping if it's not meant to taste of anything and I'm sorry but the amount of toppings it said it had on there it should have had a lot of flavour but tasted extremely bland. She said you can put condiments on it, I said that even with the condiments it still tasted really bland. We weren't happy to pay the full price for my partners pizza and they then rang who I assume is the owner, his name being Eric, after speaking to him and explaining that due to the fact we were not happy with the one pizza which if you're not happy with a dining experience it's perfect reasonable and as a business the establishment should feel saddened that a customer hasn't enjoyed their experience but nope wasn't understanding and spoke very arrogantly on the phone and was not willing to discount anything off of this pizza to which I said that due to our experience and the fact the pizza was flavourless I would be explaining this In a review as its terrible service, literally no customer service. His words "you can honestly try, I won't loose any sleep" honestly how arrogant can you get and the worst customer service I have ever experienced!!!! Avoid this place if you want a pizza that tastes of something. Due to this owners arrogance, I've seen other reviews explaining the same thing. He clearly has no interest in addressing the issue of lack of flavour and the service is terrible, finally the pizzas are not cheap at all either....
Read moreBy Hand Pizza Cafe was raved about by Youtubers and many of the reviews I read said this place was the best pizza they'd hand in Thailand. I lived in Naples, Italy for three years and when I asked Italians where the best pizza was to be found they told me it would be different for every person. Each person has their own taste. I'm going to chalk this place up like that. The pizza was handmade and cooked in a legitimate Italian style oven. The ambiance of the place was very hipster open-air cafe. Some of the pizzas available were interesting. The flavor was from fresh ingredients and the crust while being a little bland was pretty good. I'm very picky about crust so for many probably very good. The unacceptable part to me was that it was entirely devoid of any salt. I have never in 40 some years ever had to add salt to a pizza. However, easily enough solved but if a pizza main flavor is white sauce it should stand out. If the pizza is bacon that flavor should be present. While the ingredients were there they weren't what stood out for the pizza. I think people that think this pizza is the best haven't been around much. Perhaps best in Chiang Mai, I'm not really sure as I've not sampled any others here. I think I'd go to Pizza Company first and that's really saying something. It overall wasn't horrible, if you go there make sure you grab the salt shaker before...
Read moreI was looking forward to a great pizza to share with my 4 girls. Unfortunately, the chef / cook / pizza makers must have had an off day. Maybe it's the Monday syndrome if that exists here. The pizzas were very average and sloppy, with no crisp bottom crusts. The ingredients were about 5 out of 10, and the cheese is either the wrong type or used incorrectly. The review given in Google rated them 4.5 stars with an individual review saying they provide great crisp thin crust pizza. Well, maybe those reviews were taken a long time ago on a good " Pizza" day, but yesterday was not one of those days. The service was great, friendly and efficient, the atmosphere would be much better a night because the small alleyway doesn't give a lot. Night time probably buzzes with so many Farang dropping in or passing by. There's obviously hostels close by as many foreigners constantly walk past, and perhaps that's the reason they don't provide a menu with Thai and English, only english, which is disappointing. Basically, it doesn't live up to the rating provided in google, and they need to lift their game and learn how to make a really good pizza. Coming from the West, we know what a good pizza is and what it should look and taste like. Only the Pizza Company at various locations in Thailand, including Vientiane in Lao, come close to making good, enjoyable pizzas, not...
