We were initially happy to have stumbled on this michelin recommended restaurant on our first night in chiang mai. Unfortunately we were quite disappointed.
The place was initially packed so we tried to give them benefit of doubt, but after waiting a good 30-40 minutes without receiving any of 4 dishes after drinks were already served.. we had to follow up twice with servers and finally told that due to computer error, the order was not printed out.
Then in the 5 minutes after realizing the error, they rushed out all the dishes one after another. Only two were luke warm. The michelin recommended crispy pork was crisp and cold.. perhaps would have been a good dish if actually served as it should have been prepared. The Khao soi was plain and no better than something expected from food court. The grilled strip loin spicy salad was intensely salted. In fact, the salty-ness and clashing of intense flavour profiles was consistent across their food. Coming from the south where flavours were light, balanced, and fresh.. it's not clear whether this is simply a regional difference. But I would certainly not know based on this poor dining experience. The drinks were also just mid.
The servers were profusely apologetic, although it begs why they did not check in on us until prompted. Despite a 20% discount for their error, this meal still came out to be one of our most expensive meals in Thailand so far.
Overall not recommended and highly...
Read moreShocking hygiene issue, bugs found in salad The dining experience here has left me very disappointed, even nauseating. My family and I chose this restaurant because of its positive reviews and elegant environment, but unfortunately, our experience completely overturned our expectations. We ordered a seemingly fresh salad, but when I took the first bite, I felt an unusual chewing sensation. Upon closer inspection, I was shocked to find a black bug that not only grew but also carried nauseating mucus on its body. This is not just an ordinary bug, its presence completely disrupts our appetite and raises serious doubts about the restaurant's hygiene standards. We immediately called the waiter and showed them the bug. Then they immediately took the plate away and, under the guise of asking the chef what it was, took the opportunity to remove the bug. They then told us that it was a chili root, and that food safety and hygiene should be the most basic promises of any restaurant, but this restaurant clearly did not do enough in this regard. The purpose of writing this comment is to remind other customers to be cautious when choosing a restaurant. Although we may not visit again, I sincerely hope that they can take this incident seriously, take measures to improve hygiene, and ensure that all customers have a safe and enjoyable...
Read moreWe came here for dinner with a big bunch of colleagues from various Asian countries including Germany. We had 2 long tables and due to the amount of pax we had, the restaurant move us up to 1st floor and man I tell you... is so HOT up there!! The ventilation is very bad.. is sweating within 10 minutes seated. 🥵 So if you want to dine in, just stay away from upstairs.. 😅 Coming back to food.. we had crispy pork - for those who fancy fats, this is for you but not me coz i prefer meat, tom yum (sorry no photo coz we don't have enough space to even house all the dishes).. that i rate it normal; fried calamari.. i love this, is fresh and not too overly fried; the lemongrass chicken wings is equally tasty and not too dry; another Thai style squid that is sour and a little spicy.. very appetising; omelette with prawn - kind of standard (i mean is ok but not special); padthai with river prawn.. the seafood is FRESH, so rest assured on this aspect; deep fried river fish with Thai dipping.. well becareful if you don't like muddy taste.. despite deep fried still there; grilled pork neck which is tasty 😋. It wouldn't go wrong if you order prawns, squid and pork...
