We had a late lunch at this place. As many others, we had high hopes as it being a Michelin star restaurant and at least double the average price. It even requires a 500 Bhat deposit for reservations. Well, as the old saying goes, the higher the expectation, the more disappointment.
Based on the reviews, we didn't order duck curry (meat is too dry), platter (not much flavor) or crab meat on fry eggs (high price for not very good crab).
Personally, other than the green egg plants accompany the black fish (English menu said local fish, actually it's just cat fish), there's nothing much to write home about. The fish was dry without any flavor, but the sauce was not that good. A couple other dishes come with big chunks of uncooked vegetables, but no dressing to wash it down. Pork neck meat usually should be lean and tender, this one has a fair amount of fat and unchuable parts.
As for service, because it was a late lunch, the place was only about 50% full, there were several waiters and waitresses just standing there and not bother to take away empty dishes. For a restaurant that charged at this price level (over 600 Bhat pp), not even water was provided.
So this restaurant is definitely a waste of money and time and I think Michelin also realized that it made a mistake and no longer include it on Michelin's...
Read moreI recently visited Kiew Kai Ka and wanted to share my experience. The restaurant is well located, and from the outside, it gives a good impression. The interior also looks proper and presentable.
However, a few things made the visit quite disappointing. First, the restaurant uses a strong artificial perfume that is sprayed every 10 minutes or so. Unfortunately, the scent is very synthetic—something you’d expect from a low-quality fragrance shop—and it made the atmosphere uncomfortable. This was a major distraction and affected my overall experience.
In terms of food, I usually judge quality not only by taste but also by how I feel a few hours later. Sadly, I did experience a mild upset stomach afterward, which raised questions about food freshness or ingredients used.
Another issue was the staff. During my entire visit, I sat alone while the staff carried on long, casual conversations with each other. It felt unprofessional and made the space feel more like a break room than a restaurant.
Overall, despite the promising location and appearance, I wouldn’t recommend Kiew Kai Ka based on my experience. There are likely better options around that offer a more pleasant atmosphere and more attention to food quality...
Read moreI gave 1 star because there is no option. This rubbish restaurant and staffs deserve -10 stars!! The service is bad okay, not the worst but the food was absolutely disgusting!! My friend ordered Mango Sticky Rice but the waitress said it is sold out!! A popular & simple dish like this - "Sold Out"!! Why you don't tell customer when you give the menu to customer!? I looked at the whole menu. Firstly, there were photos for different dishes but the photos were so bad. It didn't uplift my appetite, in fact, opposite. There is many dishes in the menu are duplicated. It just very cheap street local restaurant food but sell in a extreme high price for cheating tourist!! Secondly, as we already there and order a drink , so I tried very hard to find something to order, eventually, I ordered Penang curry pork. It was so...so...bad, I have never taste anything worse than this in my life! The pork is so dry & tough! It looks worse than any street food. Finally, I just had a few bite and leave it all on the plate. Then we asked the bill. I complained to the Manager (he said he is Manager!), he didn't show much sorry and still wanted us to pay for this disgusting thing! What a nightmare...
