Mix (or "Promaneda" as it is formerly known) is in desperate need to find it's own identity. I really don't understand the good reviews here...
When I walked in it had nice surroundings, with good outside sitting and insidd air con seating. But after being greeted with 4 menus (food, beverage, wine, ? menus) and two staff hovering around immediately seeking an order it felt quite overwhelming.
The menus itself was very "mixed". There was no real identity behind it. It felt almost like the chefs put together any ingredients they wanted and tried to put an low res photo or descriptive name on it. You could say they took a traditional and added random things you wouldn't put with the dishes and then serve it up.
They had Thai, Western and Japanese cuisines with the Japanese food sitting outside in cling wrap..
I was recommended by another tourist to check this out and really would have wanted to know what they ordered. When prompted, the staff couldn't really even recommend dishes themselves. We suggested that they share the wifi password ("lovemixcnx") but they refused saying that too many people are logging on so not worth trying?..) Anyway we had to ask other patrons around us for what they felt was good... Even after trying those dishes, we were dumbfounded at the randomness and lack of authentic taste and asian fusion you would expect at a place like this. Hence, the guidance for them to focus on their core strengths and really work on bringing that home.
I would suggest ONLY coming here for drinks. But be careful of the cocktails. The Long Island is to desire for (really unbalanced mix for the long island, too much rum and soda). I tried the Laos dark beer as well, that was on tap and pretty solid.
All up the damage was 558 baht for one main, one entree, and two drinks. About 264 for one entree and one mains, and the rest was for the drinks.
I must say I wouldn't come here again. My friend that came with me vomitted a couple of minutes after leaving the place... very...
Read moreMe and my husband had dinner here last week and we came back again at Valentine’s day! Even when we like to try different restaurants, this place stayed in our head and we had to come back soon. The ambience is really nice and romantic. The musicians are very good as well and really make the experience better (which is not always the case in my opinion), beautiful voices and the sound level is perfect. The staff is very kind and are making sure you are having a wonderful time.. The menu here is huge. I don’t think there is anyone who could not find something to its liking. Delicious seafood, Thai dishes, European dishes, and of course the big big choice in beautiful meat. Also they have an enormous collection in wines, which you can check out yourself in the wine room at the terrace. Also they make very nice cocktails. We tried out a lot of food and drinks in those two times. Scallops, picanha, lobster bisque, steak tartare, cocktails, desserts, so much more that I can’t come up right now, and it all was finger licking good. If I may share some feedback that could be improved; please tell the customers before checking out the menu what is not in stock. We had to choose another wine and one other dish because it was not available anymore. It would have been nice to know that beforehand. The exclusive dessert with 24K gold and truffel was so frozen that I couldn’t really enjoy it. But other than that; it’s the perfect place for a romantic night out and a place that we would visit again...
Read moreThe worst dining experience of my life. Went for Valentine’s Day. They couldn’t find our reservation, nor any other non-Thai reservation as we watched other tourists struggle with the same problem. Once we finally got a table, the service was atrocious. Completely forgotten about. I was SO excited about this restaurant. I ordered a starter and it came out AFTER I finished my main. My boyfriend went 45 minutes without a drink because no one came to our table. The man who I presume is the owner, couldn’t care less. Had to open our own beer bottle with a fork because they just left it there unopened. The only people who semi cared were one female server (not our server) and the manager. Every other table (non tourist) was getting excellent service. In the end they compensated us with a 20% discount, but realistically we should’ve walked out and not paid because we had to physically get up and search for someone to even get our bill. We paid 100 usd for 2 steaks, 1 glass of red wine, and 2 beers and 1+ hours of the worst service and being treated like the black sheep of the restaurant. I almost forgot to mention that they also served my boyfriends steak first and he didn’t even have a knife. Took 5 to 10 minutes for us to find a person and then for that person to find a knife. Just absolutely the worst dining experience I’ve ever had. The steak was nice but my god not worth it. Save yourself the anger and hassle and pick a...
