My husband and I came here for dinner after staying at Art Mai Hotel for four nights - we were out all day exploring Chiang Mai daily so we didn't have a chance to enjoy the restaurant here!
We finally had a chance to visit Jarid and we were more than surprised at our wonderful experience. We were welcomed instantly by both Bua & Eak - we didn't wait longer than 0.5 seconds to be seated it was so quick :) !
We chose to sit outside where it was lovely being outside in the nice weather outdoors, and Bua went over all of the different local beers they had to offer, and also went over the wine menu. Bua kindly asked if we had any questions and gave us a few minutes to review the menus.
Bua then returned around a few minutes later, and we had some questions about the menu, which she kindly answered - so polite/sweet/caring! It was so cute!
We decided to get Chang , and Eak pleasantly surprised us and informed us it was Buy 1, get 1 Free until 10 PM! yay! We ordered two Changs, and both Bua/Eak came back to pour our drinks in our chilled mug glasses. We had some small talk with Bua/Eak about it being our first time to Chiang Mai. Then we chatted about how we really liked the music playlist. Then, about 10-15 minutes later, we met Neo, the bartender. He said he heard it was our anniversary and Bua/Neo helped cheers us, it was so sweet! Neo (the bartender) then said he heard we liked the playlist and we all discussed the featured artist, Nujabes and we talked about how significant Nubajes was :). We definitely agreed that this artist had the best vibes for this environment! Neo said he also helped encourage Nujabes for the playlist! :)
I asked Neo about the cocktail and he explained how each one is individually crafted/how the various teas were crafted in our cocktail that we ordered. You could definitely tell how passionate Neo was about crafting each cocktail - he was very descriptive and explained the process behind how our specific cocktail was prepared, it was so awesome!
It was amazing to see all of the staff contribute to helping all of the tables around. It’s rare to see this type of collaboration in the US. So it was so wonderful to see Eak, Bua, and Neo all working together to help each other- a true type of work ethic/teamwork that you don’t really see so much in the US, sadly.
As far as food, we ordered: chicken satay, the coconut milk chicken soup (that’s not the entire name) , pad Thai, Chang’s and an amazing cocktail I can’t remember the name of and also champagne ! They offered us some complimentary chip snacks which we also enjoyed 🥰
We really cannot wait to come back, all three of these individuals truly made our experience at Art Mai amazing - even though it was just the restaurant/bar experience :) Thank you to : Bua, Eak, and Neo ! We hope to see you again! You guys are all the best and truly understand what the best is the best customer service truly means !! You guys all stand out for our experience at Art Mai 😆 thank you...
Read moreIn an area where there are many very good low-cost food options, if you want to charge higher prices, you need to stand out. This review was made with that in mind. Jarid is located just outside of One Nimman near the end of an alley that is not especially noisy. The location and the initial vibe for me was very nice. As for the service, I have found here in Chiang Mai that while always pleasant, the service staff more often than not does not differentiate courses in the manner that I would expect elsewhere. Typically I could care less and would take the consistently gracious and pleasant service I receive here over what might be considered more formal. However, if you present your restaurant as higher end, the expectation goes up. My server, Miss Nucs, was spot on. She offered recommendations that were specifically in line with what I was asking her for, and she clarified the order in which I preferred the food to come out after taking my order. Once I stopped eating my appetizer, not because it was finished, but rather because I was eating solo and did not want to fill up before the main was served, she recognized this and asked if she could proceed with the main. Very satisfied with the entire service experience. As for the food, it was also good. The papaya salad was among the best I’ve had. For me, the chicken, while good, was a bit too much work to enjoy properly, and the pineapple with pork appetizer did not wow me as I would have hoped. Again, the food was quite good, but I hoped it would stand out in a more emphatic way. As for the atmosphere, there was a young man entertaining outside with live music that was quite nice. It was a bit humid, and I chose to sit inside, but next time I will choose to sit outside and enjoy the entertainment. Overall this was a nice experience and I would return...
Read moreThis is an upmarket and modern restaurant based within a hotel and situated in the trendy area of Nimman. I booked a table forvtwo for my birthday. We ordered the mixed platter for twoas a starter. There was the usual collection of Thai appetisers, well presented and cooked. We really enjoyed it. We both ordered the steak as the main course. Unfortunately, my steak was not that hot, very tough and about 40% fat. I complained (gently) to my understanding waitress, who, after consulting with the manager, offered me a 20% discount off my steak. Obviously, I declined their offer and insisted that I wouldn't expect to be charge at all, which she eventually accepted. My partner (who is Thai and never complains about anything) said her steak was so tough her jaws ached after trying to chew it. Incidentally, the man at the next table overheard my complaint and mentioned he had exactly the same problem with his steak a few days before. This place is in an great location, very smartly put together, have excellent and knowledgeable staff, a compact but well thought through wine list (we had an excellent St Emellion) , however, it clearly needs to sort out their meat supplier or teach the chef how to cook steak I definitely would go back, but not...
