LaiLai Shabu & Grill — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

Worst Chinese food I have had outside of the US. We went here as we miss Chinese food and my favorite is Sichuan. First thing we noted is the prices are far higher than they should be. We decided to order some modest dishes including sour and spicy potato strips (酸辣土豆丝) which is one of my favorites - it was horrible. The taste was so far off and had little flavor other than some spice. We also ordered an egg fried rice which was so bland the only flavor was egg. We also ordered stewed pork with lotus root, which had nothing to do with what was shown and described on the menu as it was a bland soup. These 3 modest dishes and a beer came to 522 THB, which is far too high for this kind of food. The service was also not very good as they seemed to be distracted in the back doing something. New bbq grill and shabu buffet restaurant with great food and wonderful price. This is by far my favorite bbq restaurant in Chiang Mai. Only 399 per person with everything included, the automatic grill (super fun, kids loved it), shabu (must try the green pepper, very unique), drinks, soup, xiaolongbao, mala stir fry, ice cream and so much more, only 399😱! My friend and I decided to explore this place whether or not we might find an authentic Sichuan place closed to Nimman road. We ordered our favorite dishes e.g dry chilli spicy chicken, spicy eggplant and spicy and sour fish soup. But they were different from what we usually had in Sichuan restaurants. Tastes were okay but we didn't like them much. We expected stronger flavor and unique taste of Sichuan cuisines.

In general, taste was okay but if you expect the authentic Sichuan, I don't think this place is right for you. However, a waiter and the owner were nice and friendly. Great service, I would say. And nice...
