Whenever you're in thailand and thinking of where to eat, i would highly recommend Nara. We came in a super huge group with 3 long tables.. 😆 This is what we had: Papaya salad (without Salted egg due to the "eating participants" are in their 40s & 50s.. hence due to health concern, we decided not to pursue Salted egg) - is a must have as an appetiser for us.. Morning glory is also the signature dish of Thailand. You would go wrong with this dish. Yummy as always 😋 River prawn with garlic - only insane people will reject this dish or vampire .. the moment you try 1 you would want another one.. 🤤 Of course tom yum goong - you have not been to Thailand if you have not tasted tom yum goong... the river prawn here is huge and fresh...FRESH.. they can accommodate if you wanted less spicy.. Grilled sirloin steak with sticky rice - this is to kill for if you fancy beef dishes.. request for how you want it - rare, medium rare, etc. Different table has different preferences, 1 rare, 1 medium well, 1 medium rare... and the all 3 came out 👍🏻 Grilled river prawn.. yeah.. we are crazy and can't get enough of the prawns there...it is seriously irresistibly tasty ... no joke.. Crab meat omelette - not as fancy as Jay Fai's version that has thin later of egg while the rest is crab meat.. the propostion of egg is a lot.. lol 😆 but OK crab meat ratio.. not amazing and control your expectations, or else you will be depressed.. 🤣 Mango sticky rice - is also a must order if your stomach can still acommodate this dessert.. Banana with vanilla ice cream - personally I felt this is meant for children coz Is a little too sweet for me.. Complementary dessert from Nara (thank you very much) - coconut ice cream with assorted thai sweet condiments...
Thank you to Nara for enabling us to entertain all our guest that evening. They had their stomach filled with a happy face while exiting the restaurant...
And I hope we didn't tear down your restaurant for the loud laughter because the food is...
Read moreWe were shopping at One Nimman and couldn’t find a lunch spot (Ginger Farm was packed and had a really long queue). This place is just a short walk away but is way quieter and managed to provide a nice escape from the busyness of the crowds outside~ Great alternative and calm atmosphere is honestly even better than squeezing in with the crowds at Ginger Farm 🤷🏻♀️ Among other things, we ordered the mixed appetisers, the deep fried whole seabass with garlic, peppercorn and herbs, and the omelette soup with pork balls and lettuce. We also enjoyed the steak, though the sour soup that we got wasn’t our favourite. There were earthy flavours that didn’t suit our palate, and despite not being described as spicy on the menu with the chili symbol it was still spicy (especially if you drink it too quickly!). However the taste of the omelette soup was really rich and strong, and comforting enough to warm you up after the cold Chiang Mai weather outside. ❄️ It took a long time to come though, being the last out of all our items to arrive which was disappointing as everyone else had already pretty much finished their meals by the time it had arrived. Definitely recommend the mixed appetiser set for groups — wide variety of finger foods, and if one of your friends can’t handle spice, just avoid the fish cakes and the spicy...
Read moreWe visited Nara Thai for Christmas dinner, and unfortunately, the experience was disappointing due to the attitude of the staff. When we called earlier in the day, we were informed that reservations weren’t possible, but vegetarian dishes could be accommodated. We arrived around 7:30 PM, only to be told the restaurant was full and were offered outdoor seating by a male staffer, which we declined due to the chilly weather. Upon asking about the waiting time, we were rudely told we couldn’t wait at the entrance and were advised to return after 30 minutes. Surprisingly, within 5 minutes, we were offered an indoor table by another staff.
Once seated, a staff member named AUNG informed us of the very limited vegetarian options and mentioned that the kitchen would take a minimum of 45 minutes to prepare the order. While it is understandable and appreciated when staff manage expectations, the rude and indifferent tone was unacceptable. A busy restaurant thrives because of its customers, and such a rough attitude during peak times reflects poorly on the establishment.
Ultimately, we decided not to dine, as the lack of options and the impolite behavior made the choice easy. This experience was far from what one would expect from a reputed restaurant, especially during the...
