Pura Vida Bar & Social Lounge — Restaurant in Chiang Mai Province

The bar itself is ok, located inside a shopping center, but I'm sorry to say that the cocktails are very very bad. I've worked as a bartender for many years in some great cocktail bars, so I have a pretty good idea of what most cocktail should taste like and every cocktail I had at PuraVida taste like they put almost no alcohol in it.

Even cocktails that should be quite strong if you follow the recipe, just taste like sugar syrup here. I was happy to find a Latin bar that serves Caipirinha and I thought it must be good here, but it was very bad. Margarita was very bad too and just tasted like lime juice and sugar, I'm not sure if there was even any tequila in it at all. I don't understand, Margarita is so simple and easy for a bartender to make, how can they do it so bad, why not putting any alcohol?

They are clearly not using full measures of alcohol and I think that they are probably putting half or less the amount of alcohol in their drinks compared to what it should be to make more money.

If you are going to sell cocktail then just please follow the original recipes and put full measures of alcohol as they are supposed to be. It's ridiculous to pay this much for a cocktail which taste terrible because there's barely any...

Nice little Latin bar with different types of music through out the week. The only downside is that the cocktails here are just really not good at all. I have been here quite a few times with different groups of friends and we have tried many of their cocktails and they have all been well below average.

As a Latin bar I was really hoping to finally get a great Margarita or Caipirinha, but unfortunately every cocktail here have been disappointing and my friends who had cocktails here all agreed that their cocktails were not good. Instead of having the best Latin cocktails in CM, they have some of the worst, which is really a shame.

I'm not sure exactly what the problem is, but all the cocktails I have tried here just taste bland and watery so my guess is that they are not using full measures of alcohol to make their cocktails, but maybe using half measure or less to try and make some extra profit. Personally I would much rather pay a bit extra and get a proper cocktail made the way it's supposed to be.

I will probably still come here once in a while, because the atmosphere is nice, but I will stick to beer and avoid...

We decided to go there because I called the owner and she mentioned a special event at 10 pm. When we arrived, there were no people and nothing special was happening, but that was no problem. We ordered two drinks, and when my boyfriend went to pay, the cashier charged us 1,000 instead of the correct 500. My boyfriend didn’t understand and insisted he wouldn’t pay for what he hadn’t ordered. Then, a non-Thai staff member approached my boyfriend and said, “Calm yourself down… there’s no need to be aggressive…” The thing is, my boyfriend wasn’t being aggressive at all. They should have started with, “Firstly, we apologize for our mistake. Please calm down, and we will fix this.” I’m not sure if they did this on purpose or not, but they claimed they had charged the wrong table, even though we were the only ones there. Anyway, happy...
