AZZURRA — Restaurant in Choeng Thale

Pity!Restaurant-goers are met at the hotel reception by a buggy. The ride goes through the huge and beautiful hotel grounds to the beach. There you find the Italian restaurant in a perfect location. The menu is not very special, but okay, the wine list is small. When we visited, the restaurant was only frequented by a few guests. I got a carpaccio in good quality, covered with a large amount of rocket salad. No dressing, extremely dry. The waiters were quite difficult to reach, but I did manage to get some olive oil in a tiny bowl. Then I had to ask for salt, because there was nothing at the table. After waiting for a while, a stuck and almost empty salt mill arrived, which I had to open with a knife to get at least a little salt out. Next came an excellent grilled octopus. The service staff were not very interested in us. We scurried up twice, leaving the table to explain our wishes to the staff. We wanted a fresh fish, after all we were sitting right by the sea and saw lots of fishing boats during the day. We ordered a Whole Snapper Al Cartoccio. Unfortunately, the restaurant only serves farmed fish from mass production. The fish was a sea bass with a slightly musty taste and there was no sign of it being prepared with a shell (al cartoccio or en papillote). The preparation has nothing whatsoever to do with Italian cuisine. The invention of wireless credit card terminals has not yet spread to the management. We had to wait 20 minutes for transport back to reception. It is an extreme pity that such a great restaurant is neglected in such a way and that the hotel's 5-star claim is ruined with this last-class...

Today me and my mother came for the Afterroom Tea from the package that I purchased about 2 years ago, after experiencing stay with Hilton Arcadia and Cassia near by, I was not expect too much customer service from this restaurant. But I was wrong. My mother, 78 years old with Parkinson's disorder and this is the 2nd time I brought her to Thailand and she loved coconut juice very much... After we sat down, staff asked what kind of drink we would like to have, I just simply asked for iced Thai Tea but after my mother saw other guests ordered coconut juice, she asked me if we could have it too? I asked the staff for a price and decided not to order it, A couple minutes later, the staff came back and told me they would like complimentary offer us the coconut juice. My mother responded this is a very best Mother's Day treat after what we experienced the previous hotel stay. I would not comment too much about the quality of Afterroom Tea even though it was delicious but I am ready going to focus about the customer service here. As a frequent Marriott Titanium member and Hilton Diamond member, I usually got complimentary upgraded room and Club lounge for Tea Time and Happy Hour but until I arrived at Phuket, found that is not what I usually experienced but today I finally met the right quality of customer service. I really want to thank the whole team and whoever came to offer the coconut juice, even if it's a small gesture, she won't know how big move to us. I really would like the management to know what a nice job she and the whole team did, thank you for giving us a nice memory at...

Had diner with family of 4. The food was decent; pasta was perfectly al dente and flavorful. Pizza was not special in flavor. Desert was disappointing in flavor. Some items from the menu were not available without any notice.

The staff was working hard. We were assisted by Yuth, who was really good; always 1 step ahead, very friendly and actually maybe too good to be working in this restaurant or ready for a next step. We were less impressed by the floor(?) manager. A bit unfriendly/impatient towards other customers, very stressed (expressing heavily towards his staff) even though there were only 5 tables occupied and around 1 staff member per table. Very visible, and sometimes a bit loud. Trying his best, but in the wrong way. This spot could potentially be a lot better.

The location is nice during sunset. However, during heavy rain the place does not provide...
