Tom Yam Goong Restaurant — Restaurant in Choeng Thale

We came around 6pm enjoying the beach view and sunset. It was a cloudy day and hot and humid. But not by the beach. It was a bit windy but not hot or cold. Perfect. We chose an inner table to avoid sun and brunt of wind.beautiful by the beach wonderful!

There were only few tables (5) at that particular moment and the staff jumped when they saw us. I was a bit worried reading other reviews. Negatives was about staff not food. Found opposite-- very attentive. Maybe bad servers are gone!

We ordered:

Fish cakes 6 petit one 5stars so delish my entire family were so surprised

Chicken satay(not in pineapple as picture) 3.5stars solid but not memorable

Fried spring rolls 3.5. Piping hot, ok, not memorable

Chicken panang 4stars very good! Creamier than usually

Beef(I forgot name but look at photo) it was slightly floured and deep fried crispy then saute in dark brown garlic sauce not too sweet (like in US) 5 stars. Really good style with beef in particular

Mint mojito. Very lime-y and lots of mint not too sweet. Not heavy in alcohol. I enjoyed it 4stars

Rice plain white. 1.5 stars--im very picky rice eater Really cheap quality for my family who loves and only eats high quality jasmine. Skip. Maybe get fried rice ..I don't know

We were staying at the Angsana Laguna and this was an alternative restaurant to the hotel restaurants. Only 50 metres from the side of Azura and Xana beach restaurants. It is right on the beach.we would pop in for beers 130 tb for large Singha, Tiger Chang etc. We dined here a number of times and decided to dine on our last night 15th October 22. They make the best Massaman curry. I had the chicken first which came with a large chicken drumstick. I switched to Pork expecting belly pork. No thin slices of pork, no fat. Our 6th visit to Thailand and this was the best curry by far. We had the morning glory, green curry, prawns (big) pineapple fried rice with chicken etc. Etc. All between 150- 200 tb per dish. Cheaper than the hotel as they add 10% Service Charge and 7% VAT to their prices but the food is good. The staff here are great and friendly and love to wind the big boss up. I strongly recommend this place. It's not very waterproof though so ask them if it's going to rain. I hope you enjoy it as...

This place really surprised me. My wife and I are locals and we were quite sad to see all of the beachside restaurants in the Laguna area shut down last year. We have eaten at many restaurants in many different locations and just happened to stop at this place on our way to the Xana Beach Club.

I’m glad we did because the service was fantastic. We ordered drinks and they were out within a few minutes. We ordered food and again, only a few minutes had passed before they were setting our plates in front of us. The prices are reasonable for a beachfront restaurant and the food was pretty good.

We will almost certainly turn into regular customers.
