There is a new cowboy (of fine dining) in town and his name is ... CLARA !
This new restaurant totally worth a try and another one, and another ... We just loved everything of what we experienced there.
First, the place is wonderful, a beautiful Villa 50/60’s style, entirely renewed to become the perfect case for this fine Italian inspired restaurant. You will enjoy dîner In front of the wonderful garden with subtile lightings, sitting in such a pleasant setting. Everything exhales quality, good taste, peace, tranquility and enjoyment !
Then the team... nice people for a great experience. The owners Clara and her husband Chef Christian will be the perfect hosts of your very nice dîner there. Giving you all the attention, explanation or advices you could need and the rest of the team plays on the same level. The service is default less without being over present and that what we love, this well balanced behaviour between attention and privacy.
Then for sure THE FOOD Delicious, amazingly turned toward quality and precision, especially on the cookings / bakings which were just perfect (scallops snacked but still pearled inside, the fish and meat, or the pasta close to perfection) but also on finding the right twist, that fine kick that’s going to give you a new sensation, a new experience that you were probably not expecting. Very pleasant, solid tastes, clear and readable, original but not messy or too foolish just to impress people, not at all, nothing shows off.
Every dish you will be served is driven to dig in Christian’s Italian roots and propose you a new modern experience of it. As I said don’t miss the truffled tagliatelle or the scalop but we also had great emotions with the powerful tomato sorbet, the Thai wagyu or the destructured Tiramisu. Believe me that from the very beginning with the amuses-Bouche you’ll understand on first bite that chef Christian is obsessed with the quality of his ingredients and that he knows how to transcend it for your greatest pleasure.
The wine list is really fine too, with a large selection of Italian wines but not only. We choose a french white organic Burgundy “Macon village” which was simply delicious. And honestly there is no overpricing on the wine list which is another very good point.
As you guessed we loved our night there and will totally get back to Clara for...
Read moreAn outstanding dining experience(!) I was surprised Clara does not have a Michelin star.
The arrival experience through the garden forecourt is incredible (it has an art gallery-Esque ambience). And the restaurant's interior is chic-modern with high ceilings. The owners have done a superb job in creating a unique ambience that is refreshingly different from common minimalist interiors – It’s classy while being warm and cosy also
Hospitality was perfect. After I was greeted upon entry and taken to my table, Clara, co-owner and to who the restaurant was named, came over to introduce herself. She gave me a warm welcome and then introduced me to Christian, co-owner and head chef.
I was having dinner and selected Clara's signature 9-course menu with paired wines. Each course was nothing short of delicious! The sommelier, Julian, had selected outstanding wines that paired perfectly with each course. If I was to be pedantic, I would so that I felt the Barolo with the pigeon main was just a little slightly overpowering but, as I don't usually drink such heavy reds in Australia it could have just been my palette – But the pigeon and Barolo were both outstanding!
Chef Christian took me on an exciting culinary journey. The dishes he designed were delicious and innovative, some referencing food from his childhood and hometown and others his modern interpretation of traditional dishes. All courses were plated up creatively and gave a surprise each time - A reason why we love fine dining(!) There are some dishes that you never forget - And at Clara, I will always remember the orzotto, and spaghetti, they were unforgettable!
Christian and Clara are perfectionists, you see this in their attention to detail with the food, service, hospitality, and interior. And are supported by a well-trained and professional team.
Once again, thank you, Christian, Clara for your hospitality and a wonderful and memorable dining experience. I look forward to...
Read moreThis Italian restaurant delivers great flavors, creative innovation, and masterfully balanced textures in every dish. With the choice of a 6- or 8-course menu, the experience is exciting and well-crafted, though the smaller menu may leave some wanting a bit more.
Flavors & Execution Every course was a delight, showcasing impressive technique and thoughtfully balanced flavors. You can tell each dish is crafted with precision. The creativity shines, making every bite enjoyable—though not the kind that leaves you completely blown away.
Portion Size Concern With the 6-course menu (฿3,880++), I finished the course feeling a bit hungry. I wonder... should only the 8-course option (4,880++) be satisfying, or should all set menus ensure a fulfilling experience? I'd expect a fine-dining restaurant’s tasting menu to be both exciting AND satisfying.
Chef’s Hospitality When I raised this concern, the head chef was incredibly gracious, personally offering an extra plate of pasta—an absolute masterpiece. Truly appreciated the thoughtful service.
Potential Improvement I understand the intent behind small, intricate bites, but one course with more substance—perhaps the pasta—would make the experience even better.
Final Verdict Overall, an enjoyable dining experience with impeccable hospitality and great food. The only drawback was the 6-course menu, which could have been slightly more generous in portion size—while still of course preserving the chef’s intent of highlighting...
