Terrible Experience at Roots Bar

I recently had an extremely unpleasant experience at Roots Bar. The middle-aged woman working there was incredibly rude and behaved in a way that felt unhinged.

She outright told me that if I only ordered a soft drink, I would not be allowed to play pool. When I asked to pay for it regardless, she screamed at both me and my boyfriend. I have never encountered such rude behavior from anyone in Thailand before.

Thailand is known for its friendly and welcoming people, but this woman was aggressive and unprofessional. If she is the owner, she should learn how to work with integrity and communicate better. If she’s an employee, the owner should consider firing someone who behaves this way.

Her attitude not only ruined the atmosphere but also tarnished the image of Thai hospitality for international visitors. This bar is located in a tourist area, and such behavior is unacceptable. This place is so peaceful and wonderful, the staff is very attentive, and it felt like being part of a family. They already knew what we liked to drink and what we enjoyed by the next day. It was a dream. The restaurant is currently undergoing renovations, so the location isn't tip-top, but we still went there very often because everything else was simply perfect. Horrible place with horrible service. The old lady who works there is so rude I have never experienced such behaviour from a store. I was staying at the hotel next door and thought I would pop down for a drink but all I found was a dirty store run by the worst people in Thailand. Thai people are very kind and compassionate, I hope this lady can change and become better more like how the majority of Thai people are.
