LEK SEAFOOD — Restaurant in Karon

Disappointed, I go to Thailand at least 4 times a year for business and holidays so I'm not being an over critical "tourist with high expectations " I am a very forgiving and understanding patron but I in this case our experience was a let down. The food was really average, staff although friendly, forgetful and not attentive. We moved tables from one side of the street to the opposite side just to get served as we kept getting overlooked at our original table. It took a long time to have our order taken. We ordered Deep fried prawn cakes that resembled hockey pucks, in appearance and flavor, very dry and bland. We also had a plate of papaya salad that come with sticky rice and grilled chicken, the papaya salad was great as was the sticky rice, the chicken however was a small fillet that was cut to around 2mm thick and cooked until it was basically jerky, the last dish we had was large noodles with chicken and vegetables, a very basic standard Thai dish, it was just flavoured with soy sauce, so lazy cooking here. Ordered 7 dishes, 5 of them to go. Ordered 5 drinks as well. They delivered 2 dishes on time, meaning within 20 minutes. Never delivered 4 of the drinks. And then proceeded to get into a vicious shouting match with us when we asked them about the hour delay. The ild man serving drinks is especially heinous. Served the entire restaurant but not us. Trust me. I have traveled the entire world. Worst service I have ever experienced. We kept asking the waitress politely where our food and drinks were. But they ignored us. Thai hospitality? Hell no. At any other establishment the proprietor would have acknowledged their mistake, apologized and given us the missing drinks. I dont care about the money. But service is what is...

We’ve been coming to this small, rambshackle, simple but charming setup / restaurant everyday that we’ve stayed here in Karon. It’s a humble place, with friendly but matter of fact staff with limited English. They are great, they are no nonsense- not pushy, and the food comes Out fast at a good price ! The food is goooooood! The smoothies are all natural, large and refreshing, the coconut is amazing - they give you a spoon to scrape out the meat after you’ve drank it :) view is great of Course, with a lovely breeze to keep you cool, but no sand flying in your food.
