Edit: Edit* 1-year update*, the hair looks great! My hair stylist complimented it so many times that this is the most natural transplant sheâs ever seen.
If you are looking to do a hair transplant, you can spare the pain of researching and just read my experience at BHC here. Hopefully this helps with your decision making process.
A bit of background info here: I'm from Canada and i've been thinking about doing a hair transplant for almost a year. However, the wait-time and price for hair transplant in Canada is really discouraging; also, i've had many bad experiences with the canadian medical care, so i started to look for alternatives in asian countries.
Thailand was actually my first choice because its medical care ranks #1 in Asia and #7 worldwide. Therefore, i thought it'd be a good idea to do my surgery here. I'll skip the boring details of how i did my research, but after spending 10+ hours of comparing clinics, I chose BHC for the surgery and I'm super glad i made this choice. Here's my experience at this clinic:
Customer Relation: I contacted BHC on LINE before i came to Thailand. Big thumb up for Tori at customer relations, she has been very attentive to my questions, and sometimes my inquiries are answered even outside of their working hours.
Consultation: I arrived Bangkok a few days earlier than i initially expected, and BHC's team was able to accomodate my date change with only 1-day notice (thanks again to Tori :) ). The consultation process was also better than expected. The younger Dr.J consulted with me and he explained the surgery process very well, and he even advised that i didn't need the most expensive treatment (Stem Cell Therapy) because of my young age. I know I'm in good hands when the doctorâs being honest and not upselling services. I wanted to get it done sooner rather than later so i made my deposit on that day and scheduled my surgery 4 days later. I was prescribed some Finastride to start prepping the growth environment for the new hair. No side-effect observed whatsoever from the pills so far.
Surgery Day: Arrived at 8:55AM and welcomed in. Did a standard Covid Test and Blood test. Unlike most hospitals where staff are indifferently streamlineing their checklists on you, The staff at BHC are really awesome, friendly, and the services are very personalized. The whole process was filled with smiles and comfortable conversations. After prepping, the surgery begins with annesthesia, which can be very painful (inevitable but expected from researching the surgery process). One of the nurses gave me a leg massage to help me take the mind off, and there was a stress ball for me to squeeze to combat the pain. After the annesthesia injections, it was a smooth ride and i fell asleep couple times. The morning was mostly harvesting follicles from the donar area. Then there was the lunch break with a very hearty meal. Fastfoward to the afternoon procedure, the harvested follicles are implanted, I fell asleep a couple more times and the surgery ended around 6:30pm. The clinic provided some Wonton soup along with medications for the next few weeks. The staff helped me call a Taxi and walked with me to make sure I find the taxi okay.
Day 1: On the first night, surprisingly i didnt feel any pain and i slept like a baby. This is really amazing because most people who shared their surgery process mentioned the pain was so bad on the first couple of days they couldn't even sleep. I think that's one of the areas where the doctor's skills mattered. I'm really thankful for Dr.J's superb skills and the attentive cares from the nursing team.
Today is the day 2, i will update my review in the future about the result and whatever that's worth mentioning. But so far I can't be more happy about having my surgery done here at...
Read moreThis will be a very long review with multiple edits. Please take note that I am in no way affiliated to them and I have done multiple research and very in depth interview with the doctors before ultimately deciding on my procedure with them. There will be pros and cons to the procedure and I will list them below.
I first reached out to Bangkok Hair Clinic (BHC) in January 2023. Before that I have heard of them through a mutual friend but I was still skeptical and keeping my options open because I have had friends who went to other countries such as korea, turkey and even in my hometown of Singapore to have their hair procedure done. Even though in Singapore, we have world class hair transplant doctors and healthcare, the reason why I decided against Singapore is the prohibitive cost. It will easily cost SGD$5-$6 per graft and for my case, I require about 3500 grafts after going to 3 different hair transplant doctors for opinions. Hence it will easily cost SGD$17,500 just for the surgery without the rest of the additional operative and administrative cost. Korea was also in my consideration but I decided against it after I've had many run ins with potential medical tours who add in "extra" cost which will add up to around SGD$15,000 easily. As for Turkey, it is the cheapest where you can get it for as "low" as SGD$7000, however I've seen the after effect upfront through a friend of mine who had his hair transplant done and regretted it because of a botched procedure where his hair is now growing in different directions. I've ultimately decided to go to Thailand because air tickets to the country and cost of accommodation is relatively low and therefore even after including it into the surgery cost, It will not be as prohibitively expensive. Overall I have spent about SGD $10,000 all inclusive of surgery, air tickets and accommodation with very satisfactory results.
Now onto the main topic:
Pre-consultation : Had a meetup online with Dr Jate in March and he surmised that I might have to have around 3000 - 3500 grafts. They were not pushy and gave a lot of advise on how to how the procedure will go about. However there were some cons as they did not specifically go into detail on how the procedure will be carried out and left me with a lot of questions such as will there be accommodation provided? How long will the recovery phase be? What are the things to avoid etc.? However all these questions are actually answered when you made an appointment with them for the surgery and they will provide you with a handbook online on how to prepare for the surgery. @BHC if you are reading these, you may want to include a list of FAQ so that potential patients who are keen on the surgery may find out from these FAQ instead of directly asking questions from you. Even after the pre consultation online, I did not immediately make an appointment with them and chose to seek out other hair clinic's opinion. Trust me, you will get a lot of conflicting advise but so far BHC's advise are accurate. It is only in April 2023 that I finally decided to make an appointment and put a deposit for my hair transplant procedure scheduled on 30 June 2023. Deposit paid was about 10,000 Baht which can be done online.
(to be continued)
I will upload an entire link containing my hair transplant journey on youtube. Please look forward to it. PS: do take note that I HIGHLY recommend BHC and will give it 95/100. 5 points deducted because of some small issues none related to the hair transplant itself which you can read the "long winded"...
Read moreBangkok Hair Clinic I think online reviews are critical and useful to most people. I read many of them about Bangkok Hair Clinic (BHC) and took them into consideration when deciding whom I should use for my hair transplant surgery. I have never written a review before, however, I felt compelled to complete one considering the exceptional service and care I experienced at BHC.
If you are considering or planning for a hair transplant or treatment, please keep reading and learning from my experience.
I started my journey for hair transplantation surgery like many other people by researching online and reading any information I could get my hands on. I wanted to find a respected and reliable practice with doctors and technicians that are renowned for their expertise in hair restoration and transplantation. After spending countless days researching, watching YouTube, and reading reviews, I came across reviews and testimonials about BHC. I was very impressed with what I read and watched. The two-brother doctor team at BHC Dr. Jet and Dr. Chert had many positive reviews, and their educational background and training were top notch. I felt confident and encouraged by what I learned about the doctors and the facilities at BHC. I emailed my interest in participating in a hair transplant procedure. After receiving a response I was able to make an online appointment to meet with Dr. Jet. The meeting further solidified my confidence in the doctors and the BHC facilities. I then planned a date and time for my procedure. I planned my trip to Bangkok about 2 months out from my online meeting with Dr. Jet. I needed time to sort out my work schedule, travel itinerary, and plan around Doctorsâ availability.
This is my highlight. Thai people are the kindest, sweetest, and remarkably accommodating people in the world and that is also true of the staff at BHC. The staff speaks Thai and to ensure you are expressing your wants and needs, you will need to be patient and understanding when communicating. A special thanks to Jane, Leo, and Pam for their warmth, welcoming words and for assisting me throughout my stay in Bangkok. If you have questions about the surgery or procedures, put them in writing and email them to the staff at BHC in advance. The staff is quick with responses which will put your mind at ease. The doctors are well educated and speak English well.
Overall, every step of the process was seamlessly organized. I went in at 9 a.m. on the surgery day and didnât get out of the clinic until around 6 p.m. I felt comfortable and could have stayed longer if I had concerns or didnât feel up to returning to my hotel directly after the procedure. I was able to get four to five hours of sleep that night. The day following my procedure I returned to BHC for my first hair wash, everything went well. I returned to BHC the following three days for hair washing as well. I purposefully booked a hotel close to the BHC facility. My hair procedure was completed on October 10th, 2023. I am excited to see the progress of my procedure over the following three to six, and to twelve months. I am in the early stages of my journey to a new head of hair. By writing this review I hope to help others out there seeking a hair transplant procedure. -Cont'd.
Because of the character limit on GR, I can't finish sharing a list of helpful hints, so if you have any questions or concerns about planning a trip to Thailand for a hair transplant procedure or just visiting, please feel free to reach out to me via email. Thanks for...
