Food quality: 4/5 Customer service 0/5

Me and my partner went for a late night dinner around 8:30. When we got there, before even being able to flip through the menu, the waiter comes to us and says the kitchen is closing in 10 minutes. So the kitchen closes at 8:45-9:00 but your whole restaurant closes at 10pm? That seems interesting. Then I told the waiter, sure give us a moment. Within another 2 minutes, another waiter comes and says are you ready to order? This was all in the span of 5-10 minutes. I don’t get why we are being rushed when the restaurants shuts at 10pm?

When the food come, the quality was up to par and was good however no dim sum menu was provided as it was in the evening. So those planning to come for some dim sum for dinner, don’t plan on it. It’s only their a-La-carte menu. Food was good and portion size was as well expected.

Later in the evening, after eating, we were the last table being served in the restaurant as a family of 7-8 Thais had just left. As soon as they left, they started clearing out all the tables and banging chairs and staff members joking and laughing loudly amongst each other. Not keeping in mind that there were still 1 table left. However these laughing and cleaning were not present when the family of Thai’s were present. So is there some sort of discrimination? You tell me.

Overall besides food quality, horrible experience and do not recommend coming here late at night as you will get the worse experience! Afternoon dim sum is quite busy from experience but I believe everyone now has shifted to the Hong Bao branches in Central Embassy or other malls in BKK. Won’t be long before this specific branch closes down as usually at 8pm, this place is packed and busy. But apparently...

BEWARE.....We have been coming here on and off over the years and have had disappointing experiences these last two visits. Its location is in the back alleys of Phrom Phong , and due to traffic on both occasions it took 45mins to get from Thong Lor to the restaurant. We made a booking at 2000 , as it closes at 2200 BUT , they have last orders at 2100. I called from the taxi at 2015 to say we were running late , and was told last order at 2100 ..almost a threat. This on Valentines night ! When we arrived at 2045 we were greeted with " kitchen closes at 2100 " as a welcome. The dining room is well lit , and missing the starched table clothes and napkins of the past. There is an upstairs "kareoke" area where you hear groups of Chinese making noises. We had preordered the Peking Duck, and it eventually arrived. At 0930 , in the middle of the meal, they started mopping the floors around us , and to top it off, presented the bill ! I had to rise from my meal and go over to an office to punch in the PIN for the card ! Totally unacceptable and far from an enjoyable night ! I mentioned my disappointment to the manager there, but it fell on deaf ears. To top off the evening, the drunk Chinese then stubbled through the dinning area smoking . Not an atmoshere to enjoy an...

Hong Bao has the best dim sum in Bangkok! Is there really any more that needs to be said? Of course there is! Located on Phrom Chit Alley, Hong Bao occupies the second floor of the building and can be reached either by stairs or a small lift near the primary entrance. Once on the second floor, you will be greeted by staff who will usher you to your table or booth. The restaurant is bright, airy, and has white marble floors with light smoked windows ringing the periphery of the main dining room. If you need more intimate dining, there are several private rooms available for booking. The clientele appear to be well-heeled as evidenced by the fancy cars in the parking lot and the designer clothes on the patrons.

Always an option for Yum Cha, we would often visit this location. It is super accessible and our experience has always been positively delicious. All of the usual dishes, but they have a few creation I have seen...

Lunch at Hong Bao - it's better on all counts than their mall based restaurants, and was packed as always when we got there at 11:30. Particularly love the Malay-Chinese style belly chicken with kale and their crispy shrimp rice rolls. Good crispy chicken but admittedly you can get better for less in Chinatown. Their roast duck is well executed, with crispy skin and the meat still quite pink, not overcooked like a lot of places here . The salt egg lava buns are also way better than their insta-friendly look suggests. Took my noodles to go as we had over-ordered. Again. In my opinion still the best midpriced Chinese restaurant in town. In fact you just stick with dim sum it's actually pretty cheap but there's a lot of other great stuff on the menu.
