IZAKAYA FURUSATO — Restaurant in Khlong Tan Nuea Subdistrict

Hidden in an alley and under a parking garage lies this izakaya that I had hoped would bring me back to the back alleys in Osaka. It's a small place with private rooms upstairs which are separated by thin Japanese styled partition walls so you hear almost everything next door says or does. Food was mediocre at best although the kakifurai (fried oysters) were fresh and delicious but the tempura moriawase and miso pork was nothing I would order again even though it was highly recommended. Hidden gem - easy-going, comforting authentic Japanese food in Bangkok. Great place to hang out with friends and colleagues. A typical place for Japanese salarymen. 🥢 Standard izakaya menu with reasonable prices. My favorite was the fried chicken; sashimi was not bad for the price. No sushis served here.
