This was one of the best Northern Style food places in the city when I used to live in Bangkok a decade. I had not been in about five years and decided to give it a try on a recent visit to one of my favorite cities. It’s located down soi 33, and I think they moved, before it was a little farther down in a house, but I could be wrong. Anyway, we ordered some starters and then two (out of a party of 3) ordered their famous khao soi, however they seem to have forgotten to bring it until we reminded them three times and finally it came after an hour, by that time we had to get going so we ate it rather hurriedly. Overall, while it was good I didn’t really enjoy having to rush to eat my noodles, and I felt also that it used to be better? Read moreMy wife and I had dined at Gedhawa numerous times in the past before and after the restaurant had moved to its present premises in Sukhumvit Soi 33. We enjoyed the Northern Thai cuisine, the variety of menu selections, and reasonable prices.
During our recent visit to Bangkok, we made reservation for dinner at Gedhawa. The menu appeared similar to those in our previous visits. We ordered 5 dishes and one dessert. The variation of tastes from each dish whets one's appetite. We enjoyed all of them.
Service was attentive. Staff standing in the far corner was observant of diners requiring service.
After our dinner, we chatted with the friendly owner who remembered us from our previous patronage. We thanked her for the good meal and looked forward to...
Read moreWent to this restaurant on recommendation of the Thai people I was with. The menu is extensive, includes photos and English translation. Prices are very reasonable and I was told that the atmosphere, which was charming, was very authentic Thai. I had a difficult time deciding what to order but settled on a masaman chicken dish and Crab rice dish. Both were excellent. Of course we shared, so the fried morning glory and some sort of "baby" bamboo salad (bamboo was like noodles, soft, with a peanut sauce, yum) I sampled were equally delicious. I was told the cuisine is prepared in a more northern style, so not super spicy unless you add some of the sauces they give you. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely...
