Lava Fire Grill, Thonglor Soi 10 – A Stunning Culinary Experience from Fire to Finish
Tucked inside the bustling Soi 10 of Bangkok's Thonglor district, Lava Fire Grill is more than just another trendy restaurant — it’s a place where fire meets finesse, flavor meets artistry, and every course tells a story. Led by Head Chef Joseph Choo, this new gem is redefining the modern grill experience with bold character, elegant design, and an atmosphere you’ll want to soak in.
🔥 The Space & Concept
As soon as you step in, you’re greeted by warm, dark tones, flickering shadows, and an intimate, modern-industrial feel that still feels soft and inviting. The design subtly reflects the theme of fire — from charcoal textures to glowing ambient light. It’s stylish, a little mysterious, and effortlessly cool.
Every detail feels curated, from the open kitchen with live flames to the sophisticated bar where cocktails are carefully shaken. It’s a space made for slow dining, good lighting, and meaningful conversations — or just a solo date with yourself and a camera in hand (guilty).
🍽️ The Meal
The menu leans toward refined comfort — bold flavors, clean plating, and fire-grilled signatures that go beyond the usual.
To start:
🟣 Purple Scallops Crudo – THB 890 Marinated Hokkaido scallops on the shell, with a bright yuzu sauce and delicate condiments. Clean, fresh, beautifully presented. A perfect light start.
🍞 Foie Gras Terrine – THB 890 Silky homemade foie gras paired with pineapple and berry jams, served with toasted brioche. Classic, rich, and sweetly layered. This one lingers in your memory.
For mains:
🥩 Lamb Picanha 300g – THB 1,290
Perfectly grilled, with just the right sear and tenderness. You taste the fire — in the best way. I added a side of:
🍟 Lava’s Homemade Fries – THB 180
Golden, crisp, and comforting. No extra fluff — just good.
🍚 Truffle Risotto & Ox Tongue – THB 790
A beautiful surprise. Creamy Japanese rice, fresh truffle, and tender braised ox tongue, balanced with a subtle ginger note. Comforting but luxurious.
And dessert? Wow.
🍫 Mille Feuille “Bueno” – THB 390
Crispy wafer layers, hazelnut praline, chocolate ganache, and Iceland vanilla sauce. Honestly, this might be the **best mille feuille I’ve had in a long, long time — if not ever. I did find myself wishing it came with vanilla ice cream instead of sauce… but honestly, not complaining. It was next-level.
🍸 Between Bites
I sipped on a Signore Clover Club — elegant, fruity, balanced — and had a refreshing Peroni Nastro Azzurro to keep things light between courses. Both excellent choices to accompany the bold flavors from the kitchen.
Also worth mentioning: complimentary brioche to start and a little dessert surprise at the end. It’s these small, thoughtful gestures that truly complete the experience.
☀️ A Quiet Tip
If you're someone who prefers a peaceful vibe (and hates looking for parking in Thonglor), come for lunch. The space is calmer, service is super attentive, and the lighting? Perfect for food shots.
💬 Final Thoughts
All in all, Lava Fire Grill blew me away. From the food and drinks to the design and service, everything felt thoughtful, polished, and personal. There's still so much on the menu I want to try, and I’m definitely coming back — camera in one hand, cocktail in the other.
Highly recommend if you’re looking for a new favorite in Bangkok with style, soul, and serious flavor.

Read moreI can’t express enough how good the food is. Have tried this place twice. First experience was alright, second experience was so poor that we left before the food was ready. The food here is great, and they’ve almost got the formula down to be a Michelin restaurant. But the overly loud music, and mismanagement destroy the vibe of the place right now. Showed up for a 9:30 reservation on new years. Was told we could wait a couple minutes at the bar while they prepared us a table upstairs, declined as the bar was packed and we don’t really drink much alcohol, hostess comes back 10 minutes later and says it will be 30 more minutes for a table. Told them that was unacceptable, because they threaten a charge for a late or canceled booking. So instead of giving us our table they seat us in shared seating. After getting seated they took our orders, then promptly brought out a couple of our appetizers, then they brought out my girlfriends entree and we didn’t see a server for another half hour at which point they let us know the steak one of the people in our party had ordered was out of stock, and still hadn’t brought the rest of our appetizers. The manager came out and leaned over one of my party to explain and apologize for the service thus far. But this prompted that member of our party to leave at which point they tried to finally bring a salad to us, which made the rest of my party want to leave. We explained our grievances and the manager apologized profusely and tried to get us to stay offering the salad for free. The problem is I’d brought these people because they really wanted to try the food here after I’d described my first meal here, but the mix ups were too much. My girlfriend had been done with her entree for at least 20 minutes and the rest of us hadn’t even been served yet. I asked for the check and in the end the manager comped what we had been served and apologized profusely for the mixups. We were there for 90 minutes and left hungry so that we could make it to the rooftop of our hotel and enjoy the midnight fireworks. The plan was simple for our new years, enjoy a good meal with good company, and then watch the fireworks from the roof, instead we watched the fireworks from the roof while eating instant noodles. And this was what I was trying to explain to the manager, as he tried to get us to stay, the time they squandered was no longer worth the meal, as at that point it would disrupt every other part of our new years plans.
If they want this place to be world class, they should ditch the loud pop and rap in the dining area, and put on some proper dinner music at an acceptable volume, don’t overbook, and don’t start sending entrees when the salad still hasn’t been served. I could see Victor was having a rough night and I get it, I really do, it doesn’t make it acceptable though, and I hope he can get his floor in order as I really want to like this restaurant. I take no pride in leaving...
Read moreBased on the recent reviews, we had high hopes for Lava. We arrived for 7 pm reservation on a Saturday night and, unfortunately, there are several issues which prevented us from having an enjoyable evening:
