MONTY'S at theCOMMONS Thonglor — Restaurant in Khlong Tan Nuea Subdistrict

Yesterday I suddenly found myself on the top floor of the commons having lunch at Monty's. I'm absolutely no bagel expert, but after my experience here i feel pretty confident that this place qualifies for serving the best bagels in Bangkok.

I noticed the "Monty Special" on the menu, and since i have no clue about bagels, I bet it was best to stick with something that sound like their signature. zero regrets, because a few minutes later some absolute bagelporn appeared on my table. The special came with smoked salmon, fresh dille, some capers for acidity, and cream cheese to tie it all together. All ingredients/elements were of good quality and kept their own flavour/texture. I assume the true sandwich-fans reading this might understand what i mean to say here... Tasty AF

The highlight was the bagel itself...Mine was the "mix of different seeds" version which is a very handy option for people like me that are just too greedy to settle for only 1 type of seed. Regarding the texture of the bagel... I'm not sure if this "bagel-dipped-in-honey-water" story is causing this, but the crunchiness of the bagel was nothing less then mind-boggling. It's so crispy, when i took a bite i'm pretty sure the people on the other side of the restaurant could hear me eating. I never understood the concept of having a hole in the middle of your sandwich but, while eating, i suddenly had this revelation and it completely struck me. Because of the hole in the bagel, the "nett-crust-surface-area" is larger compared to a regular sandwich!! My life is complete. i can now rest in peace....

Bagel bread is 9/10…. But Quite disappointed with the severe lack of care within prepping the meal. I ordered the breakfast bagel and all my bacon was on one side. Whilst I was eating the other half I thought perhaps they forgot the bacon only to realize it was all just layered poorly on one side without proper distribution. Also.. waaaaay too much sauce 😮‍💨 literally just tasted like a bagel with cream and some nice crunchy bagel bread.

I also ordered tomatoes as an additional ingredient only to have it boxed to me in a separate Tupperware to put in myself? 🤔 I mean fair enough, but it’s already wrapped as a sandwhich ready to eat… honestly even 2 stars is a stretch but the dough was good but for the price don’t waste your time. Great bagels. I’ve been ordering them for several months and now I finally got one on the spot. Great bagels. Great choice of toppings. Highly modifiable. You can add anything you want. Super friendly staff, nice packaging lets you eat your bagel (even if you added a lot of toppings) without being messy. Only thing - would’ve been nice to get bagel a little bit faster, now it looks like the kitchen prioritizes deliveries over walk-in customers.
