Philippe — Restaurant in Khlong Tan Nuea Subdistrict

This restaurant has always been my favorite French restaurant in Bangkok. It is a classical fine dining place with a not too formal atmosphere, which I quite prefer. However, I have not been here for a while. Today, I happened to be near the place during lunch, so I decided to go there for their lunch set menu, which is a real bargain. The breads which they offer quite a variety is always good here. My first course today was cold potatoes and leek cream soup with smoked trout and herring cavier which was very light and complex. The main for me today was grilled beef steak with French fries and salads. The sauce tasted good, but the steak was overdone. I ordered medium rare and got a well done steak. I opted for cheese plate rather than dessert, which was good. They were quite generous with the cheese. The service was very cortious, polite and friendly but not too much. The chef owner was there to chat with customers as usual. Overall, I still like this place a lot and will definitely go back, although it will not get 5 stars this time because...

Came here twice for their good value lunch meal in September and October. On my latest visit, was greeted warmly by their restaurant manager, Khoon Boon and given a seat at a table next to the window, as I had made a prior reservation.

Ordered the steak with poivre sauce and leek soup - oh my, both dishes were truly delicious! The steak was accompanied by warm bread, salad and frites, and I ordered a glass of red to top it off.

The set lunch came with dessert and Khoon Boon offered ice tea instead of tea…so sweet of him as it was a refreshing cool drink for a hot day.

One of my fave places for lunch, will definitely come back...

❤️: We got the Set Lunch Menu—3 courses for 820 baht ($33 only!). I got the 🥗🍳 Salade de Cervelas, so tasty and creamy yet gives you a sense of healthiness whilst eating 😝. For the main, I got the 🐟 Pan Fried Red Snapper with Braised Beef Sauce on Vegetable Spaghettis. The fish was fresh and well cooked, whilst the sauce was flavorful, which went well with the light and refreshing taste of the vegetables. For dessert, I got the 🍮 Panna Cotta Amaretto—sooo creamy and delicious—probably the best panna...
