This is a return visit (Dec2022) review after a year. I am updating the review to 2 stars (from 3).
Ambience : coffee lovers should set the correct expectation that this is actually a restaurant, setting is for you to come here and eat, not a coffee cafe to sit and drink and spend time.
Staff : they are nice but not attentive/proactive, because the place is always so crowded.
Quality : the pork loin took 35 minutes to prepare (waitress told me 20 minutes preparation time), which was exceptionally long time for a “restaurant kitchen” set up.
The pork loin tasted Dry and Bland. And the chef’s choice of the side (corn) and sauce were not savoury enough to produce a balanced palette for the dish.
The espresso ice cubes latte was good for IG photo but not entirely practical for coffee lovers. It took ages for the espresso ice cubes to melt - hence 1) the taste was always overpowered by the milk (even though I only poured a small amount of milk), and 2) only 30% melted after 30 minutes, and after an hour lunch when I left, only 80% melted, so for all practical purpose I did not finish my espresso, and the espresso latte mix was always subpar. Lastly, the espresso liquid did not blend adequately with the milk to create an integrated flavour.
Price : pork loin 340 baht, espresso ice cubes latte 120 baht. Not too expensive for the menu’s pricing, considering the setting and location (at EmQuartier).
But, considering I was never able to finish my espresso ice cubes latte, dry bland pork loin with 35 min wait time, non-attentive service, then it translated to low-price-performance.
Personal Thought : a convenient restaurant for meals - western culture ambience, reasonable food choices, coffee and drinks varieties - but it’s success (popularity) gives rise to an atmosphere of rushed and non-personal experience. And, the place / design concept actually looks better than the experience it delivers.

(Earlier review a year back)
Piccolo was well made. More a cafe restaurant than a place for coffee. Probably good place for meals.
However, judging “stand-alone” as a coffee place, it’s just too expensive. The Piccolo alone is 100THB (way above other places), not to mention sitting down costs you 17% on top (service charge and VAT). This means a small cup of Piccolo is 117.7THB, I could have two from other places.
I deduct 2 stars strictly because of price. Roasts is designed for sit-down meals, and not your...
Read moreThe Roast Café at EmQuartier is a trendy spot popular for its specialty coffee, all-day brunch menu, and laid-back vibe. Here's an honest review:
Positives: High-Quality Coffee**: Roast is well-known for its expertly brewed coffee, with a wide selection ranging from espresso classics to creative signature drinks. Trendy Atmosphere**: The café’s sleek design, featuring industrial-chic decor and cozy seating, makes it a favorite for Instagrammers and casual meet-ups. Varied Menu**: The menu caters to diverse tastes, with a focus on comfort food, brunch staples, and creative dishes like truffle pasta and fluffy pancakes. Great Location**: Situated in EmQuartier, it’s a convenient spot for a meal or coffee break in between shopping sprees.
Negatives: Overpriced but you get the quality food**: While the food and drinks are good, the prices are on the higher end, which might leave you wondering if it’s worth it compared to other nearby cafés.
Take Note: The Seafood Stew that was on promotion cost 890b. Big serving enough for 2-3pax. However the taste is diluted due to too much soup. The Seafood Stew that i had in 2017 was much more delicious then. Fried chicken serving is for 4-5pax. The chicken is huge. Platter is good but too the chicken is too big. Cost 580b, come with 2 sides.
Crowded**: It’s a go-to spot for many, so getting a seat during peak hours can be a challenge, especially on weekends.
Service**: The staffs are friendly. Good service.
Portion Sizes**: Some dishes, while tasty, may feel underwhelming in portion size compared to the price.
Roast Café is a solid choice if you’re looking for good coffee and brunch in a stylish setting. However, it might not be the best value for money, and the crowds can make the experience feel less relaxing. Perfect for a treat and...
Read moreI always love to come to this restaurant for a dish name “peruvian chicken”,today I came here to eat and the dish was very salty, then I told the staff that your dish is too salty, they simply apologized but did not have any solution, I couldn't stand it halfway through the meal and told them it was too salty but they didn't consider to remake the dish or send me a glass of water to solve the problem! They chose to ignore it. We ended up ordering a bottle of plain water for 50 baht, but in the end, when it came time to pay the bill they charged me at the original price, so I refused. In the end they decided to give me a 15% discount, which was 45 baht. Funny or not? Because I had to buy an extra bottle of water for this dish, it turned out to be 5 baht more expensive than the discounted price. Although the value of the dish is only 360 baht, the attitude of the waiter and the way they solved the problem, it makes me feel speechless. They thought I was cheating them out of a dish or a glass of water because I wanted a cheaper option, but I was angry because no one helped me out at all. Including the store manager who came to communicate with me that she was transferred from another branch to help and wanted to get rid of the responsibility. In my mind, I thought forget it, this store is doing so well anyway, and there is no lack of me as a customer, but I will not come back to this...
