This is a complaint letter. We had a bad experience in this restaurant just now t.t. We made a reservation at 8 pm because we knew that the last order was 9 pm (restaurant close 10 pm) because we wanted to hav fresh toku skin, but when we arrived at the restaurant on time at 8 pm., we were told that there was a big cleaning and they had to close at 9:30 pm. So we order what we would like to hav and during that time, one of the waitresses inside alway make unwilling service. When it's 9:30 pm, this waitress says, "Let me clear the table" Even though the food is still in my mouth, it's the last bite that we're about to walk out of the restaurant. why the reception didnt give the information that the restaurant close earlier?? when we made a reservation? during people having meal, why this waitress always made an unpleasant service??, we just want to enjoy the meal :( so bad we would like to know the solution. Just about this waitress, if today we had not met her we would give this review as 5 stars, this restaurant would be a lot better with...
Read moreVery disappointing. We used to love and visit this place frequently in the past, and the food here used to be expectional. However, when we visited this place today all of the food quality took a turn for the worse. The both fried oyster and yuba age come out too oily with slight rancid smell from the oil. The salmon used in hako sushi is not fresh with it being slightly soggy and too warm. The grilled gindara is somehow very bland even though we ordered grilled with miso sauce. Also, it is extremely blaffling when the server said this place, a japanese restaurant, doesn't serve green tea. The only thing that is still good is the service, everything else is extremely disappointing. We most definitely will not come back again unless a major change for the better happen. Tl;dr If you are someone who enjoy the food here in the past, please be aware that it is...
Read moreAnother lovely set lunch at Umenohana! Very authentic, high quality ingredients, many items flown in from Japan.
This is a nice place with good service - you can expect a calm atmosphere and your meal served to you properly in courses, Kaiseki style
I honestly don't understand how are so affordable considering the quality. You can have an amazing full lunch set with many side dishes for well under 1,000THB. A huge dinner Kaiseki style set around 1500. And the price hasn't gone up for years. I don't understand the comments saying it is pricey. The price is higher compared to mass market or casual "serve as dishes are ready" Japanese restaurants, but for this quality with proper ingredients and service the price is so reasonable, I honestly wonder how they manage.
The food, decoration, service all feel like Japan. A hidden gem, worth...
