This special unagi restaurant all the way from Japan has been around for over 90 years and is well-known for its top-quality. In my opinion, what sets them apart is their use of live eel for grilling.
We tried their Hatsumabushi set, and the eel was grilled just right — crispy on the outside and juicy inside. The sauce is well-balanced, neither overly sweet nor salty. This set also comes with dashi soup, turning the dish into a porridge-like ensemble. While the dashi soup tasted good, it was a little cold to me (should be hot or served separately after a few bites). Unfortunately, the eel liver was unavailable during my visit (better ask in advance).
Overall, I recommend this place if you are looking for delicious grilled eel of high quality. The price is pretty reasonable, not too expensive. Alternative menu selections such as sashimi or tempura might...
Read moreFood / Taste: The broiled eel in kabayaki sauce was excellent – flavorful and well grilled. I tried the Premium Kikukawa Set (990 THB) which came with 3 pieces of eel, assorted sashimi, side dishes, rice, pickles, and soup. A nice balance of premium ingredients, filling but not overwhelming. The rolled egg with eel (490 THB) was tasty, though the eel flavor was slightly strong. The broiled eel livers (250 THB) were a pleasant first-time experience – surprisingly delicious. Shrimp tempura (230 THB) was average.
Price / Value: Not cheap, but reasonable considering the quality and the fact that it’s authentic Japanese cuisine.
Service: Good and professional service.
Ambiance: Clean, comfortable, and traditional Japanese atmosphere with private rooms and nice background music.
Parking / Accessibility: Easy and convenient with...
Read moreWe had such a wonderful experience dining at Unagi Yondaime Kikukawa. From the moment we arrived, the staff were incredibly warm, attentive, and welcoming. They promptly informed us of their lunch set promotion, which turned out to be such a great value especially considering the generous variety of dishes included.
The unagi bowl was grilled to absolute perfection, with that delicate balance of crisp edges and tender, flavorful eel that just melts in your mouth. The tempura was equally impressive the crust light, airy, and spot-on without feeling greasy. And the udon… oh, the texture was simply divine—silky and chewy in just the right way.
It was one of those meals that not only satisfied the stomach but also left us feeling truly cared for. A lovely lunch in every sense. Thank you to the kind team at Kikukawa we’ll...
