Terrible Experience – Beware of This Restaurant in Bangkok

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant in Bangkok last night. After finishing my meal, I asked for the bill, which came to 1,412.25 baht. I handed the waitress 2,000 baht and mistakenly included a 13-cent Taiwanese coin. The waitress noticed the error and I immediately replaced it with the correct Thai baht.

However, about 10 minutes later, she brought me only 3 baht in change. When I questioned it, the staff claimed I had only given them 1,100 baht, which made no sense because they had already checked the money and verified it earlier. To clarify, they reviewed their CCTV footage, but the video was unclear and didn’t show the transaction properly.

The manager’s explanation was unconvincing and dismissive. She insisted we had underpaid and refused to return the missing 600 baht. Her attitude was terrible – not helpful or understanding at all. After 1.5 hours of back-and-forth discussion, she called the police but misrepresented the situation, telling them we had underpaid by 300 baht without explaining the full story.

Fortunately, the police officer listened to our side and understood the truth. In the end, he asked the restaurant to return the 600 baht to us. But even then, the manager did not personally apologize or take responsibility. Instead, she asked a staff member—who was not at fault—to apologize on her behalf.

As a manager of a large restaurant, she should have handled the situation with intelligence and respect. Instead, her actions damaged the restaurant's reputation and gave a negative impression of Thai hospitality – all over 600 baht.

I will never return to this restaurant again. I’m sharing my experience to warn others and help them avoid going...

Impressive and amazing Thai restaurant. KubKao' KubPla was our newly found Thai modern cuisine gems. Great menu, variety of flavors of Thai cuisines, from simple comfort Foods to seasonal seafood or protein.

Authentic Thai Stir-fry dishes with some surprises flavours and tastes. Price is slightly high but very worthy with their unique taste and flavours. And of course the great table service.

Although just two of us, but we order one big seafood fish dish with vegetables and comfort staple food. Very satisfying and enjoyable.

First, the deep fried seabass topped with crispy lemongrass and tamarind sauce. Fish meat was cut in pieces and it was much easier to enjoy. The taste was unique especially with the tamarind sauce. Perfect with white rice.

Simple Stir-fry morning glory vegetables, it was simple yet full of Asian flavours, traditional and authentic. Loved it.

The last comfort staple food, fired rice with crab meats. Crab meats was in big pieces and it was chucky and sweets. Fried rice was not in great flavours, slightly light in taste, still a delicious combination with the flavourful fish and vegetables.

Overall, this restaurant was a gems to us as tourists, definitely will be one of our Bangkok canteens. Price still affordable, with their great variety of food selections, definitely a must visit restaurant when we visit...

There is no city in the world like Bangkok. Colorful, noisy, quiet, lively, mysterious, smiling, pleasant, old, innovative and full of food everywhere. At every street intersection, on every corner, food carts, street restaurants, stalls, everything and everywhere. In my opinion, Thai cuisine, along with Mexican cuisine, are the most fascinating cuisines in the world. There are thousands of excellent Thai food places in Bangkok. Finding excellent, spectacular, beautiful and delicious Thai food in a mall like here is absolutely rare. Kub Kao’ Kub Pla is one of the best places to dine if you’re looking for great , nice restaurant, clean with good vibes, welcoming staff and cool atmosphere in the 6th floor of the mall , which is semi open and you watch the city from above. The food here is THAI and Spicy 🌶️ and ppl who follow me, know I LOVE ❤️ spicy 🌶️. We had the gorgeous, beautiful and delicious Massaman curry with beef cheeks and potato, spicy and rich. The Crispy Pork with Vegetables, sweet and spicy 🌶️, the Tom Kha Gai soup that was rich , smooth and tasty, one of the beautiful dish is the CHICKEN WRAPPED IN PANDAN LEAVES - GAI HAW BAI TOEY, the children was tender and Pandan leaves 🍃 give the chicken 🍗 a very special Aroma, the Fresh longan juice was good and not too sweet. It’s a MUST when you visit...

Hits and misses can be found here in the upmarket Thai staples which you can probably find them iconic street food. Service was prompt and seats were readily available. However, the quality of the food is rather questionable. I refer to the freshness, wok work, flavours, textures and perhaps presentation. Of all we ordered, the roasted pork with garlic and chilli was the best of the lot. The sea of garlic was a treat but careful, it felt us rather bloated. The pork’s skin was crispy through the lunch. The crab omelette was a let down. It was a bit dry, tasteless and the crab meat was a wee bit fishy. We thought this homage to Jay Fai’s house special would be closer to what we imagined. We thought it would be a bit moist with strong wok-hey aroma. The ox tongue stew was good on its own. But it felt like a western dish which was very sweet. The rice dish - let’s not talk about it. We left it untouched as the meat was bone dry. Nonetheless it’s a good benchmark and a place for tourists. The stuff will be pushing their seafood :-)
