We enjoyed our time and food there, we went twice! I recommend the place. Overall, the experience was good, but there are two stars less for this: - On our first time there, we got to the restaurant during rush hour (19:45), so we waited for 15 min to be seated, which wasn't a problem at all, but once inside we had to wait 50 min after ordering to be served. By the time we had our order, the restaurant was empty. I consider it important in restaurant management to know the work rhythm of the kitchen to advise the customer accordingly. In my case, I would have preferred to be told to come back after 1 hour, this way I could have decided if I wanted to go somewhere else or just wait by having a relaxing walk on the beach. On our second visit to the restaurant, we arrived earlier (before 18:50), the food took 30 min to be served after we ordered. - For the food and drinks, it was not satisfactory overall. The "noodle soup" was lacking a bit in flavour, the mango sticky rice was pretty... salty, the white wine was a sweet one mostly for desserts that didn't taste completely right and the gin & tonic wasn't great either. However, the mussaman chicken was delicious, the red curry chicken was excellent and the deep fried banana was pretty good. So, keeping in mind the food and drinks experience just told, I think in terms of quality/price the balance could be improved. The staff were very nice at all times, kind and the service was professional and polite. It was a pleasure to meet them, so I hope this review is helpful and constructive. Answer: Thank you for the detailed answer, I appreciate the effort. I wanted to point out that when the power cut happened, it was on a different night in between my visits. I was in a restaurant nearby, I took pictures of the fun experience in the terrace when I was having dinner that night. About our food, I think you are right, the logical path would have been to mention what drinks or food where not "right", but as a customer, I try to avoid such an uncomfortable confrontation, I prioritize to enjoy the company and my time there, and also it was not only one plate or one drink, it was a few of them... In addition, if I take into consideration that 50 min "isn't too bad" for the serving, I prefer to avoid waiting again. Thank you again, all the best!

I mean cooking wise, it's all about Malina. But her husband Dan is absolutely hilarious - an EXTREMELY charming gentleman. My face was hurting so much from laughing!! What a legend! The food was excellent. I had a Massaman, rich and thick, beef and potatoes perfectly cooked. My husband had a Tom Kha seafood, also excellent, although not spicy - he normally likes spicy but fancied a change. Then halfway through he starts putting some chilli powder in, so the staff swoops in and saves the day! Delivering a ramekin of fresh chillies in less than 60 seconds. I'm bummed we only discovered this place on our last day - it had been on my list due to all the amazing reviews - but every time we'd walked past it was rammed and rightly so!! Amazing chef, amazing atmosphere! What more can you ask for?? Oh, a lovely glass of cold white wine... check. It's hard to get drinkable wine here, so I even ordered a second. This place shouldn't be missed!! You will not regret it!

On our first day in Koh Lanta we came to this place because of the popularity it has only. As expected, it did not disappoint. The food is very affordable and absolutely delicious. My partner and I both ordered the massaman curry with a side of steamed rice. I had it with seafood and my boyfriend had it with chicken. The curry had an intense taste of spices and a mild taste of coconut which made it tasty and creamy at the same time. It’s one of the best curry dishes I’ve had so far. What I liked about the menu, is that you can choose whether you want chicken/tofu/seafood or just vegetables in your dish. You can also adjust the spice level to your liking. For me personally, I told the employee I’d like the curry medium spicy and I did not find it spicy at all. The seafood tasted fresh. Just know that the restaurant is cash only. We paid 500 baht for two main dishes, rice and drinks.

Best on Ko Lanta! Seven times in a row we went, really! And tonite again. We're staying at Layana which has a wonderful restaurant and service. Well, Malina's kitchen is 'on par' so no surprise we meet fellow guests here every evening. The price/value ratio is unbeatable. Simple as that. Great variety on the menu. TIP: Try the curry spring rolls special. Every dish we've eaten simply blew us away, and we've been travelling Thailand for twenty years. Spicy choices go from zero to hero. The service is awesome as well. Great setting too. Dan the host does everything to accommodate guests as fast as possible, finding solutions when times are busy - a born entertainer. And Malina tops Chef Remy from Ratatouille! Frankly, this is Thailand's kitchen at its best, or an excellent pizza just as well if you prefer. And if holidays are about meeting people and places, then by all means experience Malina's Kitchen and you won't regret it, my word! In the (-high season-) case you have to wait, it'll be the funniest wait you ever had, and more...
