Peyote Mexican & Taqueria Samui — Restaurant in Ko Samui

SUFFICE TO SAY I WILL BE AVOIDING THIS SCAM RESTSURANT FROM NOW ON.

Horrible food, too.

I had a burrito, which was less than ideal: a lot of rice, only a few beans and even less chicken.

Then ordered some chips with salsa and avocado which was horrid: the nachos were deep fried and very oily and hard to eat, the salsa had a very funny taste and the avocado was very stale and yucky.

Finally, I asked to pay, and SURPRISE SURPRISE they added a 10% serving charge on my bill without even asking me!!!! Nice scam for tourists.

Just horrible, avoid at all costs.

PS: Owner, you should be more concerned about how your employees scam tourists, not how many Google reviews I have in my account. Just Imagine what a horrid time I had in your restaurant if I took time out of my life to write this, and how scammed I felt after leaving. You are the only restaurant in all Lamai that scammed me of money,...

The food is really good, although it had a slight MSG-vibe. Not saying it had MSG but I got that same salty cotton mouth I usually get with MSG-laced food. The chips and guacamole we ordered as an appetizer was fresh made — impressive — but the amount of chips they gave was just a handful, so there was way more dip than chips (btw this is not normal Mexican restaurant protocol). For 3 people the bill was almost $40, definitely on the pricey side for Thailand and on the pricey side for Mexican food that did not come with the standard side of beans and rice. We were charged extra for cilantro lime sauce that was supposed to be included, maybe a misunderstanding because we asked for it on the side? It’s cash only fyi....

I think the soft tacos was very nice with good Mexican flavours and salsa was good. I would visit at least once during a two week stay.

They should have wet napkins at the table due to tacos are a messy food. I used the bathroom to wash my hands.

Music was very good and mexican. The tables was very small. A 120cm table for 4 persons is not comfortable, even for one person as the chairs touches each other. I noticed many Thai restaurants have to small tables, a table for 4 persons should be at least 140cm long and 0,8 to 1 meter wide. The length more important than width.

I think if the restaurant had larger tables and more cosy feel I would come again during this trip. Now I'm going to try...
