A Little Slice of Thai Heaven at JJâs Food
Tucked away in the charming village of Mai Khao, JJâs Food is a family-run gem that puts the neighboring hotel restaurants to shame. If youâre craving authentic Thai flavors without the inflated prices, this is the place to be.
We indulged in a feast of Pad Thai, Yellow Curry, Pineapple Fried Rice, and Pad See Yewâand every bite was a delight. The Yellow Curry stole the show, its rich, velvety sauce pairing beautifully with chicken. (Although we spotted soft-shell crab as an option on the menu, we stuck with the classic chicken and didnât regret it for a second.) Pro tip: bring a hearty appetite because youâll want to savor every spoonful.
And just when we thought we couldnât eat another bite, dessert arrived to prove us wrong. Enter the banana fritter with chocolate sauce and ice creamâa crispy, golden delight paired with creamy scoops of indulgence. It was the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal.
The warm, welcoming vibe is thanks to the family behind the magic. JJ himself is a comedic charmer, cracking jokes and keeping the atmosphere lively. Their son, a ray of sunshine, dashed between tables with a constant smile that made the experience even more special.
As if the incredible food and company werenât enough, an elephant casually strolled by during our mealâa uniquely Phuket moment that added an extra sprinkle of magic to the night.
Skip the hotel dining and make your way to JJâs Food. This is where authentic, mouthwatering dishes meet heartfelt hospitality. Affordable, delicious, and unforgettableâsupporting local families has never...
Read moreWhat a gem within the Mai Khao area of Phuket. Hidden in secluded area near the Marriot Mai Khao Beach resort. A very friendly and family oriented out door restaurant with many cheap options for great classic Thai dishes. We ordered the Fried Prawns, Pad See Ew, Stir Fried Morning Glory and Tom Yum Soup. Each dish was roughly about 100 baht to 150 Baht. Fried Banana for dessert and had alcoholic drinks for cheap as well. Food was excellent and good portions for the price you pay. Restaurant was operated by a friendly family of 4 with the father being the host, 2 sons helping with tables and mother cooking in the kitchen. Food was soo good we had to come back before our flight back home. Must visit if you want good Thai food in the Mai Khao area. Father was a very funny and...
Read moreThis place is amazing. The food is delicious, such good value and you can customise the meat and spice level in any dish to your liking. The tom yum and pad see ew were our favourites. We sadly only went here on our last night in Phuket and it was so good that we had to come back for lunch the next day before our flight. More than the food though, JJ and his family are such lovely, funny and accommodating people and gave us amazing service which made it an experience rather than just a meal. JJ is such a character and is so funny, same as his younger son. And his wife Paw and the older son are great cooks and so hardworking. A beautiful, authentic family business tucked away in Mai Khao that is a nice difference to the fancy resort...
