We decided to order takeaway as there were flies flying around the food at noone table. However, there were no flies in another table of customers.

The food received thumbs up from us. The dishes were warm when we brought the food back to the resort. We had ordered fried seabass with garlic, grilled prawns, pineapple rice, 2 servings of spring rolls, 2 servings of kailan and tomyum soup. We were awed by the big seabass which was crispy and filled with the fried garlic. The dishes were reasonably priced. The grilled prawns were good even without using the dip. Though the stir fried kailan may need to be improved with presentation, the vegetables were flavourful. All the dishes appeal to my kids. If you intend to get 2 servings to do a takeaway, ask for them to put 2 servings in a box.

The young waitress served us with a warm smile. Another server gave us complimentary crackers. This is one of the best among the ones on the beach in Mai Khao. Awesome food + great customer service + U can watch sunset.

Easy to spot this place. Just go to Anantara resort, Sea Fire Salt restaurant and turn right from the restaurant and walk along the beach and you will spot this...

This is not Thai food. We're Malaysian locals who have frequented at Thai restaurants both in Thailand and Malaysia, and this has by far, been the worse Thai food experience we've had. Our meal consisted of the Panang Prawn curry, which was a mess of undercooked prawns and a mere drizzle of sauce, unlike the generous helping that was advertised on their menu. The baked pineapple rice was oddly sweet and not very pleasant. The most abominable of the dishes was the Thai green curry. It was not at all a curry, rather a diluted, watery concoction of what seemed to be curry paste and coconut milk. The restaurant staff deliberately denied our criticism, further proving their indifference towards potential improvement. Positive reviews for this restaurant were clearly written by people who are unable to distinguish between authentic Thai food and whatever on earth it is that they serve at this establishment. Saying that the food here is good is the equivalent of a person eating a boiled morsel of chicken passed off as chicken schnitzel, and actually somehow enjoying it. There are countless better restaurants....

High expectation before meal as we had visited the other resturant next to it. The previous day.

However the issues started with the drinkso order. The Blue Hawaii was green and mostly tasted of Lime Juice. If there was any alcohol in it, was little. Equally as poor was the mojito. Again mostly tested on Line Juice with little to no alcohol.

Next was the Main Course. 2 dished both ordered at same. The prawn dish arrived and was hot with the vegatables were very crisp. At bit too crisp.

Next was the chicken and garlic rice dish. This dish did not arrive until after the prawn dish was finished.

This was only served once it was reminded that the dish was not served.

However, when the food finally the rice was cold and a crust on it.

The Garlic chicken had little if any garlic it appeared to be a different chicken order all together. Possibly a rejected order from another table.

No discount given for food served at different times. Still had to pay for the late served food.

OVERALL Go...

During our stay at the Anantara, we decided to try this local restaurant just next door and are so glad we did. Coming in the rainy season meant we practically had the place to ourselves, which made for a very peaceful and attentive dining experience. The Food: The food is best described as delicious, honest, homemade Thai cuisine. It's not about fancy presentation, but about genuine flavor. We ordered the grilled fish with salt (we asked for it well-done and it was perfectly crispy and good!), a flavorful tom yum, a simple but tasty omelette, and spring rolls. We were also treated to complimentary vegetable crackers and a refreshing fruit platter. The Service & Atmosphere: The service was very good and thoughtful—they even provide mosquito repellent spray at the tables. The atmosphere is very local and authentic. We shared the space with just a couple of local workers, which added to the charm. A highly recommended spot for a genuine and satisfying meal.

Tried both Rimhard and Mai Khao Wheel. Rimhard is definitely the better choice. Came to Phuket on thunder storm day, was looking for something authentic and tasteful. I was pleasantly surprised to find Rimhard still open after heavy downpour. Where else their neighbour MaiKhao Wheel was closed. Comparing between the 2, Rimhard food is tasty, especially the Pineapple fried rice, steam fish. staff is always smiling at you. They even serve free cut fruit and wet tiisue after meal. Price is reasonable. Don't try MaiKhao Wheel, their portion is smaller, grumpy service staff and food is not good. Tips on how to get there. if you are staying at Annatara Mai Khao, the restaurant is along the beach after Salt Fire Sea Restaurant. If you are staying at JW Marriott, just walk the beach pathment toward Annatara, you will see it after the pool. if you are Marriott Mai Khao or Avani, you will have to walk into Annatara and look for Salt Fire Sea Restaurant.
