We were deeply disappointed and disturbed by our visit here. At first, we thought it was a friendly elephant café where we could feed and take photos with elephants in an ethical way. However, during our visit, we witnessed disturbing scenes of animal exploitation.
Tourists were allowed to ride elephants, including baby elephants, and we saw staff forcing them to perform unnatural tricks like standing up or walking under heavy weight. One baby elephant was carrying a very heavy person and visibly struggling.
It was heartbreaking to see these beautiful creatures treated like circus animals for entertainment. We left immediately, feeling angry, disgusted, and helpless. The experience left us emotionally sick for the rest of the day.
This kind of animal abuse should not be promoted under the disguise of “eco-tourism”. We urge others to avoid supporting businesses that exploit animals and instead choose ethical sanctuaries that truly...
Read moreThe only reason we came to the cafe was because they claim to have nothing to do with the elephant rides, so we were severely disappointed to realise that the Blue Harbour Cafe are quite clearly working with the elephant ride company next door (despite their claims that they aren't). They even sell bananas for people to feed the elephants, directly supporting this cruelty.
The elephants are in clear distress, constantly swaying from side to side (a behaviour which means they are stressed and frustrated), and are kept on such short ropes that they can barely move. The trainers are always prodding them and sticking pins into their ears to make them do what they want, creating a sad and horrific sight.
Please don't support either the cafe or the elephant rides. Instead, visit the ethical sanctuaries (like Phuket Elephant Sanctury) where elephants have been rescued and are treated with the care and respect they deserve after a...
Read moreWe visited this place and were really impressed by how beautiful and well-located it is. The atmosphere was peaceful and inviting — a perfect spot to relax, enjoy a coffee, and take in the scenic views. It’s also a great place to take some lovely photos.
However, we were quite disappointed by the elephant photo policy. We simply wanted to take a quick picture with the elephants, but were told we had to pay the same price as the full elephant riding package — even if we didn’t plan to ride or participate in the water activities. We didn’t bring extra clothes and weren’t prepared for the full experience, so it felt unfair to charge the same amount just for a photo.
While we appreciated the location and vibe, the policy felt too restrictive and left us a...
