Kaab Gluay — Restaurant in Patong

Entered the restaurant at around 6.50pm with 6 pax. Waitress directed us to a 4 seater table when there is a 6 seater table available within our view. We questioned if we could sit there and they said no, there’s reservation so we had no choice but to squeeze into a 4 seater table. I sat right between the two tables and it was incredibly uncomfortable.

We sat down for a good 5 minutes and no menu was given to us until we asked for it.

At the same time the restaurant was really hot as their air conditioning was set at 27 degrees. We asked if they could lower the temperature and they just said no. These made us feel very unwelcome.

We ordered our food and ate as per usual. The food was pretty decent I would say above average but the fact that we didn’t feel welcome made the experience a lot worse.

Those instances made me suspicious of the fact that we were forced into the 4 seater table on purpose and eventually I found that I was right.

When we were done and left the restaurant, the table wasn’t occupied throughout the whole duration of our meal and despite multiple attempts to ask if we could move over they said no.

Extremely overpriced restaurant that only aims to take money from tourists’ pockets. Food portion is very small when compared to the price Food does not taste good and is not up to standard. The chicken is so rough, fish and soup have no taste. Very bad service. Only a male waiter is really willing to help with customers. Ordered two coconuts and a bottle of beer, waited for 30 mins. We politely asked about our orders, and the waitresses simply ignored us. Asked for the bill, waited for another 30 mins. My friend was feeling so sick and we had to leave quickly, told the waiters about the situation, still nothing was done and they just asked us to wait… Overall, this is the worst restaurant I have been to in my 10 days Phuket trip. Food was good but the staff decided to turn their brains off I guess. Say you order a soup, they'll bring out the dish. But then what, do you drink straight out of the giant bowl? One would imagine they would think to bring over serving bowls alongside. So then you have to beckon for the waiter to come and then wait for them to bring it to you. But then, surely one would need a spoon to ladle the food right? But they didn't include it with the bowl so again, you have to get the waiter, tell the waiter, wait for the waiter to come back with a spoon. I mean guys... I feel like for a restaurant, this should be common sense.

I felt like I was instructing a kid or telling a robot. No inferencing skills or proactivity. One would think the server would know to include serving plates... and utensils? When they bring out the dish? Lol. I had to interface so often with the server and I'm sure the server doesn't like that either. I felt this was such an avoidable problem. It was so bizarre.
